Default This Day Shall Live in Infamy

We should all take time to reflect on what happened this day 65 years ago at Pearl Harbor. We should reflect on the loss of life and also on how the incident galvanized the American people at a time when "The Press" was still on our side.

however, pearl harbor was a little different because it was an actual nation, with real borders which attacked our island. It was not a terrorist organization that indiscriminitely attacks civilian targets. Not to say that I am not super pissed off still at what happened on 9/11, It is just that its much easier to have a clear plan of action when there are clear borders and a clear enemy involved and along the same lines, easier to keep the public interest because of this clarity. With 9/11, we dont know what the right response should have been, we dont know if what we did was right or not, and there is so much grey area that it is difficult to keep public interest IMO.

Isn't it obvious? You take a mass-murdering leader, that had nothing to do with 9/11, out of power and occupy the country.

Yep, the "good old days" of knowing who your enemy is and fighting nation against nation are over. And after we nuked them, they actually followed the constitution that MacArthur wrote for them. Maybe helping them teardown statues of Sadam didn't inspire enough fear.

We just sent a bunch of stuff to Iraq from our school and it wasn't that expensive for shipping. Check into it at your local school or church or whatever. You'll live without one or two presents.

there was a nip in the air today.

seriously though, its sad that international conflict has deteriorated to a way of life, rather than an outcry for defense.

i spent the last week watching every branch of uniform walk around the i/itsec conference. there's a lot going into the future of the military here. lots of technology going into the training especially. and lots of high school kids in JROTC outfits... many of which were girls.

I don't tend to promote international conflicts for the sake of flexing muscles, but it's good to know that there's money being spent to make sure our troops are prepared before they get into the field.

the simulator I mentioned in another thread probably gave ME more time as a door gunner than many troops who'll be called to do it in other countries with live ammo and real enemies.
