Here are some facts about diet and excersize that I have learned:

1) Fat people know the most, they are experts at losing weight. Unfortunatley they are also really awesome at gaining weight back.

2) Losing weight isn't everything. Look at Jarod from Subway. I bet he thought eating 1000 calories a day was going to get him laid; but look at him, he's a douche and he's still ugly.

3) Common sense is the only way to lose weight, there's no tricks, miracle diets, crash diets, pills, 8-minute a day workouts or new research that will beat common sense.

4) Dieting doesn't work. You have to permanently alter your lifestyle. Dieting is a temporary solution. Diets can invoke immediate change but you were fat for a reason and if you don't find out what that reason is, and fix it permanently, you'll be fat again.

5) There is no easy way out. If it sounds too good to be true it is, or it's temporary.

I am 5'10 and 230lbs so I know the pain of not having a magazine body. I know what I have to do to lose weight but I don't have the desire, I guess, to do it now and keeping it off has always alluded me as it requires so much effort/misery. I have a hot girlfriend though, because, for lack of a more precise way to put it, I'm an asshole. I think a lot of people want to change their bodies for the opposite sex. But you know, plenty of people with good bodies have no luck in that department. So if you're having issues there then it might be your attitude that needs a change rather than your body.

does she have a sister?

Can I fuck either of them?

I was never a fan of "dieting". Eating right, definitely.

I rather work out and eat whatever the hell I want and drink beer. So, with that in mind, I went back to Brazilian JJ after years of not training. Damn, am I sore.

I total 4500cals per day on that diet, and it works well if I stay clean.

I do eat fattening foods when I go out to dinner, but only in small portions.

Word. I do 100 push ups, or something similar, before I allow myself to eat junk food.

kotomile 05-03-2007 02:21 PM

I like doing pushups in pyramids over the course of an hour or so. Start @ 20, then rest a few minutes, do 19, rest, the 18, etc.

Do that all the way down to 1 and its 210 pushups! I've only managed 60 pushups in 2 minutes on a PT test so far, hoping to max for my age group (75) sometime before I ETS.

Max of 75 push ups or 75 years old for the age group?

Markp 05-03-2007 09:34 PM

Don't remind me, I have to cut about 20 Lbs before summer to make my splash into the Navy. I am within standards when they actually measure me for bodyfat (hanging in there at 21%) but I would prefer to drop the 20 Lbs and just be safe. It will make running that crushing 10 min mile easier too... lol. I remember when I could run a mile in 6 mins... now I struggle to do it in 10!

Need 44 situps, 34 pushups and run in 14:30 for a 1.5 sprint. Damn I am getting old.

Mark

PS - Pushup Max of 75 is for men in the 35-39 age group... my age group the max is at 72.

Ben 05-03-2007 10:19 PM

I used to bang out the mile in just over 5 minutes, and the 800M (half mile) in 1:45. I'd still be fresh as a daisy after too.

Now, I can't even run... though I am getting close.

what do you guys do to motivate youself? everything i tried doesn't work out so well. doesn't help that i'm in college and drink like 4 nights out of the week, but hey its light beer, anyways i've tried dieting and excersising and it works good for a while but then i just get these binges where i eat whatever i want or i just don't want to go outside, or when i do i do activities that don't take a lot of energy, like fishing. at the beginning of the semester i was rock climbing 3 times a week, running 3 times a week, walking 2 miles every day, and eating healthy, umm now i think i went rock climbing last week, i drive to school instead of walk, and i can't find my left running shoe. so to sum upagain how do you stay motivated?

You can't drink and gain lean body mass, or lose weight. Either you want it, or you don't.
