2-3 years for the first three (third three?) would be pretty much consistent with the trend for the first three (second three?) as well as the second three (first three?)

After that, I guess they're going to flip the James Bond switch.

I guess I'm not sufficiently invested from an emotional standpoint to be passionate to the point of butthurt with regard to "is it morally correct for Disney to produce a Star Wars film?" I am really curious to see what they do with the franchise, though. I would expect something similar to what they did with Tron in the post-Lisberger era. Lots of flashy action and excitement, a teen romance subplot, and a confusingly large cast of forgettable secondary characters.

While we are talking about ruining films, am I the only person here who cannot stand the fact that 90% of Hollywood films use the above mentioned 'lots of flashy action, teen romance sub theme, host of actors, lack of writing skill'. I for one think that the Avengers was rubbish, for example. Demographed-Hollywood formula-entirely for profit BS.

It may be pandering, formulaic BS, but it seems to work.

I think that my brother-in-law is probably a good proxy for the average moviegoer, based principally on the fact that he seems to go to the movies a lot. All of the recent superhero / action films of the past several years have received rave reviews from him.

If you compare the total gross from X-Men or Spiderman, and compare it to the take from something like The Royal Tenenbaums or Gattaca, well...

The "Thrawn Trilogy" books were authorized by Lucas and LucasFilm as a continuation of the StarWars storyline in the early 90's to see if the franchise still had any legs. It spawned quite the revival and acted as the catalyst to start work on 1,2 & 3, and the "reissue" of 4,5 & 6.

Notice Zahn has no writing credits for 1,2 & 3, that would be your boy Lucas again
I have those. Who said they were eps. 7,8,9

Still I dread the though of the SW saga going to the big D, and I do not want to particularly see these books put to film. Hell. Why not do an off branch such as the rouge squadron books or Shadows of the Empire.

I just dont want to see this become a ceaseless $$ maker with crappy movies.

Nobody does. But at least it won't be Lucas doing it. So that might slow the decline down a bit...
