I thought the point of having an external wastegate was so you could have huge through which to vent gas. Using an external gate on the same tiny hole as a internal gate wont make a difference me thinks.

Well I though it was unique lol

I thought it was a cool idea too when I saw it on ATP's site, but...

Sam couldn't have said it better. :)

As quoted before, Cjernigan didn't have any boost problems w/ his old setup, which was similar to this.

As quoted never, In reality I've personally never had boost problems period, even with simple ol' flat flanged IWG turbines. So I should GTFO.

On a tangent, always wondered why BEGi welds an external gate flange to the exhaust manifold that are of 2 dissimilar metals ? Why not just hold the external gate flange on by nuts and bolts, similar to how ATP has done to the separated pipe portion?

Will the bolts stretch, like the manifold to turbo junction bolts?

Why does NASCAR turn left?

B/c their tracks are round. What's your point?

At one point they did just bolt them on. I have an old FM3 kit(aka old school begi turbos) and the external setup uses bolts.

As for the originally post. Back in the day I had my old DSM with external wastegate setup via the O2 housing. You are correct that it is not as nice as running off the manifold, but we would port the internal hole to the point you couldn't fit the internal flapper. Also by removing the whole internal flapper and arm it helps to open up the flow. Either way it is just a cheaper way to get better control over, over boosting without having to fuck with the manifold.
