nice hairy toes. Just stick some foam between the last 3 toes and tape it up...that's all any doctor would do.

Broken? Not likely Can you wiggle it, even a little? . Bruised and hemorrhaged a bit definitely.

Throw some ice on that little piggy to take down the swelling and down advils for the next few days to help it out.

Usually if its broken you would know. Can you walk on it ok? It does look pretty bad, usually stubbed toes don't swell up that much. Motin is my aspirin of choice.

+1.

A bunch of years ago, somebody convinced me that I should take my maybe-broken toe to the hospital cause "Oh, yeah, nowadays they can do something to help." Wrong, again. 3 hours hanging out in the ER with a bunch of addicts and genuinely hurt people. Cost me $200 to find out my toe was broken and they couldn't do a thing.

last time i went to a doctor was because a freight elevator door smashed my middle finger. I turbocharged my car that weekend and when the swelling didn't die down I went in. It broke in three places. They cast my entire arm, and that lasted 3 days when I cut it off and splinted the finger. When it came time the "remove" the cast, the doctor was shocked, but xrays showed it healed 100%.

Broke my toe once falling down the stairs, played basketball on that one a few hours later...went to the doctor the next day, and they said it's broke and they couldnt do anything.

I wonder if it could be dislocated if it's not broken. I can walk with a hobble and ok if i walk with my weight on the inside of my foot.

Pain tolerance is a big factor in hospital visits too. I know people that go to the hospital if they have a bad cough.

When I snapped my ligament off my wrist, I continued working pouring concrete and humping forms all day long for 6 months till I had this surgery. My ******* middle name is pain...

Try to get the swelling down and feel along the bone. You may be able to feel bone grinding against bone (crepoitous) if it's broken. If it feels out of place you may want to pull gently on the front of it while gripping the tip of the bone to realign any broken pieces. Beyond that, everyone is pretty much right. Put a bit of gause and something solid between the two toes and bandage them together. Ice it, elevate and take some ibuprofen.

elevate, ice, and ibuprofen.

I actually dislocated a finger playing soccer. not broke, but the last knuckle on my left ring finger went above the second to last. like this: __- ..a Z almost. I pulled it back myself. Basically I didn't do anything except ice the **** out of it until the swelling went down and go to physical therapy so I wouldn't be gimpy.

You dont need to do anything with it unless the swelling doesn't go down in a few days.

I broke my pinky toe in December. It hurt like a bitch for a week. I went to the VA and sat there for 4 hours for them to Xray it and tell me it was broken. There was nothing they could do since I could walk on it already, and for me not run for 9 weeks.

You might have broke it, but no biggy, probably.

BTW If you ever have any fantasy about how good Government Healthcare would be, go set at a VA Clinic/Hospital.

Chris
