Impuls, I feel like you got lost on the way to this thread.
This thread is mostly for drink snobs and overly pretentious cocktail hipsters. If you are here to learn and open your horizons, that's cool. But posting pictures of Captain Morgan in what is either (A) your freezer with the shelves removed and a bath towel installed or (B) the space under a cheap, white, particle board desk is not really fitting in... |
Sorry I'm not good enough.
|
I need to go replace the bottle of Woodford Reserve I finished off last night.

I just now realized that regular Captain Morgan is only 70 proof. Now I am going to have to go check my Cruzan and other cheap mixing rums.
I'm used to bourbons and tequilas being at least 80 proof. 70 proof is for Malibu and liqueurs. |
I've got bottles of Pyrat and Appleton Special right now. Both are 80 proof.
|
Gold tequila, silver tequila, gin, bourbon, Scotch whisky, white whiskey, coconut rum, gold rum, white rum: I have zero spirits under 80 proof in my bar, other than the aforementioned bourbon liqueur (which I really need to cook with or something).

New Year's tini
Okay, coming back for another New Year celebration:
2 parts Pomegranate vodka, 2 parts sake, 2 parts pineapple juice, 1 part triple sec, 1 part cranberry juice. Shake like a "tini" with ice. Heaven. |

Yes, Pomegranate Vodka. Or in other words, go out to your garage, look inside, and then come back and tell me that's a sissy drink. :) |

Japan's Suntory to buy U.S. spirits maker Beam for $13.6 billion | Reuters It is nice to actually see a company with a true business model, income, and tangible assets being acquired. The artificial inflation of tech companies has become insane. Since when is some arbitrary idea worth more than a business chain serving 20 countries and thousands of locations? limettacello started.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1395279267 I didn't have enough 190 proof Everclear so I added another measure of Svedka vodka I had laying around. both were 1.5L bottles. I needed back some shelf and freezer space. I'm using a hybrid method where you use some peel and some suspended whole limes. In one month we'll see where we are. I still have limoncello in my freezer left over from 2007. |
I'm on Lucid absinthe tonight.

Apparently, you can now buy very expensive little bits of wood to throw into your favorite rotgut hooch, which promise to transform it into something resembling acceptable-quality whiskey.
Whiskey Elements | Customize & Craft Your Favorite Whiskey! They raised $200k on kickstarter, and are now shipping product. I'm not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, it seems oddly disingenuous. On the other hand, my love for both cheap whiskey and DIY tinkering is well-known. |
^Why?
For instance, a ton of high-end whiskeys are all brewed by the same company as nearly the same base stock and aged accordingly. This doesn't seem that different? |
