Faefae - What's a "bottle of sazerac?" I thought that was a cocktail.

Sazerac Rye 18 year old. By Buffalo Trace antique collection.

"The 2009 release was named in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible the “World Whisky of the Year,” making it the best whisky on the earth. The 2010 release is comprised of whiskey that has been aged on the first floor of Warehouse K. The first floor enables the barrels to age slowly and gracefully. This vintage has a crisp spice, minty sweetness and pleasant oakiness."

Patron XO Cafe' is so common here as a chilled straight shot or rocks drink that it is available in most liquor bars. It tastes much more of coffee than Kahlua which has more vanilla and caramel flavors added to it.

Busted out the Johnnie Walker Black and some of the new Vya sweet vermouth (and some bitters) and whipped myself up a Rob Roy (2.5 oz of scotch + 3/4 oz sweet vermouth + drip or two of bitters) and I am pleasantly surprised.

Tried my first Cognac over the weekend. As soon as I mentioned to the waitress that I was looking to try one she said I had to try Grand Marnier and got me a "taste" that turned out to be almost an entire serving. Tried it and was in love! Ended up ordering one. If you want to feel like your drinking like a king, nothing will do that like drinking cognac out of one of these glasses.

I like cognac, prefer armagnac.

Tried a sazerac for the first time this weekend. Loved it, lots of depth and layers of flavors.

Picked up a bottle of Four Roses small batch. Haven't tried it yet, letting it breathe.

what are you smoking? can you see where I repaired my front door with wood putty and never painted it after 2 years?

also!!!

I managed to get a manhattan made with Carpano Antica and rye when I was out to dinner last tuesday. I gotta say, I will probably never drink cheap $h1t vermouth again. having a quality cordial in my liquor has changed me.

I feel kinda stupid asking what vermouth a bar has, but F it I'm going to pay for a $12 glass of tasty distilled spirits only to have someone pour a 4 month old bottle of piss-wine into it.

My wife just bought this for me yesterday. $75 on craigslist, solid cherry. Shelves are removable, adjustable, and can be used with or without the wine rack loops. Top comes off to form a serving tray, and covers a removable solid white granite surface.

Johnnie Walker represent!

I've been enjoying mine neat, decanted from a plastic bottle which formerly contained a really foul-tasting soft drink.

Drinking a blended Scotch poured out of a re-used plastic bottle in to what looks like a plastic cup may not exactly qualify as drinking like a king... I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

Meanwhile, I can't really recommend the following bourbon for sipping. Without knowing all of the jargon and terminology, it's significantly more "harsh" than something like either my favorite "value sipper" Buck or something a little higher end like Woodford Reserve.

I suppose I should mention my drink from my birthday dinner.

Woodford Reserve Bourbon infused with apricot, honey, and cinnamon.
The flavors were VERY subtle with just a hint of sweet apircot for the finish.

I drank an entire handle of Bellows Whiskey and puked all down University Avenue in Gainesville, FL earlier today. Hooray for $9 handles.
