Thank you for posting those plots :)
|
maybe it is the IC's my torque began to fall from paeck at 5600-5700 rpm on my last run of 8-9psi.
|
Considering that's exactly what we're seeing in these dyno plots, I'd have to say the intercooler/no-intercooler obviously makes no difference.
Olderguy's torque drops so quickly due to the drop in boost at higher RPM. |

I noticed we all lose torque after 5.5k, would some sort of cam or cam gears cure this?
Too bad our cars use a CAS attached to the intake cam or we could try the exhaust cam replacing the intake cam (more lift and duration than intake cam) as a few have tried. |
What would stop us from ussing a exhaust cam from a 1.8 then?

http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=180758 For even more info do a search in the power mods of m.net for exhintake. |
I wonder how much gain the exhintake mod would give on a turbo car. I haven't done much research on it yet. Has anyone?

Come on Tim, be a super-innovator. The only twin turbo with a exhintake cam! :) |
Ok. Anyone have a spare 1.8 exhaust cam? ;)
|
I think I have a 99 exhaust cam somewhere in the garage. Actually I still have my entire MazdaComp Production valvetrain and Motorola Cup cams.
Thanks for posting all the plots. I'm impressed (amazed) at what Tom has done with his greddy. Who could ask for more? ;) |
Well Brad might have had a fuel leak that was causing him to lose fuel. For one thing his clamps were useless since they had been worn over time and couldn't hold tight, the other was cracked fuel line. At 70psi they failed.
His 02 sensor is also throwing a code, along with "GN signal." I blame a burnt wire for the O2, not sure about the GN code. |

true. Hopefully we'll have him boosting soon!
Funny you mention the paint, we notcied he has Red/Blue RB stripes under his silvers ones. |
Haha, seriously when stuff goes wrong it all happens at once :) I'm staying positive about it though. Today I'm replacing that nasty valve cover once I pick up the gasket from mazda. Also have a home depot trip planned for the day (fuel clamps)
|
It was looking good before you ran out of fuel....does this make you feel better?
I have an extra o2 sensor with the harness, so I can bring that over and we can plug it right in, no soldering needed! |
Brad, you'll soon forget all the problems. Which is why boost is so addicting, not only does it make you want more, but it causes permanent amnesia of all the pain in the ass moments. :) Just ask Stripes and Mach929. I was almost ready to cry when my car was sitting in Stripes's garage with an oil and exhaust leak after it had been out of commission for almost 2 months for different reasons.
Scott, you are truly the master of extrapolation... |
I like to think outside the box.
|
umm guys I have a question, whats the smaller graph at the bottom of the dyno sheet? is that the afr or somthing?
