East Coast Dyno Day?

I know it's hella early for planning the spring dyno day, BUT a couple of guys have been throwing around the idea of a larger east coast meet vs. just a NE dyno day (which we'll probably still have as well). I'm just throwing this out there to see if there is enough serious interest to make it worth looking into.

Plan would be for a long weekend in Atlanta, GA with dyno/tuning day at DIYAutotune (they make the MS PnP and have a loading dyno, nuff' said) + possible half day at either the drag strip or preferrably at Road Atlanta (a real longshot) + hanging out/wrenching/driving (possible access to local lifts). The draw for the NE guys is the expertise of MS tuning that DIY has as well as Road Atlanta on the off chance we can get on.

Again, NOTHING has been set up, just a feeler for serious interest. I'm not talking about, "oh that sounds cool" but more of a "as long as the date works out, I'm there." If this did go down, it'd probably involve deposits to hold the day at DIY, early registration for a HPDE at Road Atlanta (provided we could even get in with a local club, NASA is doing an event mid-March, but it's a whole weekend affair with no option for just one day), likely reserving a block of rooms at a local motel/hotel, and possibly a miata caravan from the NE.

As long as the date works out, I'm there.

atl is 4 hours away from me, id be crazy not to jump in on this...
lets see if we can get more certain on a specific date with more people, only thing i have so far next year is a convention in S.F. in late Ferbruary, so March looks good...

wow sounds awesome, but my agenda for the summer is buy a house, get married, honeymoon....then try to figure how to afford everthing.....off to buy lottery tickets....

The thought of driving to Atlanta to dyno is kind of scary. I'll stick w/ the NE dyno day. Or... have a dyno day in DC? :) We have loaded dynos also.

DC Dyno Day! 2?

Jumping on a Dyno that far away from home is too risky for me. I'd be willing to drive to DC, DE, ME, NJ or PA for a meet.

Stealth97 12-11-2007 01:33 PM

I'm down.

Zabac 12-11-2007 01:54 PM

yes, but then think of road atlanta as well...thats a must

kotomile 12-11-2007 01:55 PM

Very down, would be a good opportunity to get the MSPNP tuned and put some names to faces. As long as it's set in stone at least 2 weeks out (so I can submit leave paperwork), I'm down.

where is the HELL FUCKING YES option?

on a related note, my car should be done today and I want to go back to the place we went for the fall dyno day so as to get comparable results with others that were there(for bragging rights). Anyone down for it? Late Dec or early Jan. It'll have to be a mild day since I have no heat system in the car other than the turbo.

How many cars can be tuned in one day? My last dyno tuning took 4 hours and the guy just shit everything up! These guys might be better but I would hate to make the trip and just sit there and watch 5 people get tuned while everyone else has to go home out of tune.

Anyway, I have been wanting to get a good tune for quite a while. I would be semi-down for this if they could tune an FM link.

DIY Autotune and I were discussing logistics last night. We're thinking about having a pre-registration for dyno time, with a limited number of slots. Those who miss the cut-off can sign on a list and get service in order, in an as-available basis.

Also, you will have plenty of time to come in with a pretty decent fuel map. You shouldn't have to touch it, or touch it much, on the dyno. Try to only need to touch your spark and boost maps.

Feedback?

paul 12-11-2007 03:06 PM

list, list, i want the sign-up list.

i'll have fuel mostly dialed in for sure but i'm scared to touch the timing maps so that sounds perfect for me.

kotomile 12-11-2007 03:08 PM

sounds fair to me.

m2cupcar 12-11-2007 03:39 PM

count me in

Do you guys not drive your cars harder on the street than the dyno?

When is MATG? We were discussing doing something like dynoing on Sat and going to the Gap on Sun (which would be on the way home for all the NE guys). The gap is ~3 hours from the dyno. It was an option we were considering if RoadAtlanta wasn't going to happen. There are also all sorts of great mountain roads ~1 hour from the dyno.
We could also go to Buford Dam (20 mins from dyno) and tube/kayak down the 'Hooch.
