Okay then, so I guess aside from the "locals," only Paul and I would consider coming from up north. Awesome. :pitlab:

Rather than setup something elaborate that pretty much noone from the midlantic/NE would go to (cough...cough...wimps :p), I'll put my time into another NE dyno day.

Paul, I'll PM you about making a roadtrip as I'm really dying to drive Road Atlanta.

we could hire jerry to fly up to a middle ground area like VA would be fair and arrange with a dyno shop with a good loading dyno to rent the dyno for a day and bring in our own super experienced megasquirt tuner.

I liked the Delware dyno, but here's another one that might be more convenient for the PA/NJ/NY guys:

http://rttuning.com/tuning/

Olderguy and myself dyno'd here before. We probably could get a real good deal if we rented the dyno out for the day. I'd also throw some hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill since this place is 3 miles from my house.

Actually, I picked the DE dyno to make it a bit more convenient for the MD/VA guys as rttuning would add almost another hour to their drive. It's pretty much as close to middle ground as it gets. 1-2 hrs for people from NY/northern NJ and 1-2 hours for most of MD/noVA. ~1 hour for most of Philly/burbs. Plus, now that we've been there 3 times, they'll really hook us up as well as the numbers are a little more comparable as they are always on the same dyno.

I think that dyno makes it only more convenient for you. :p

I live in the Va Beach area and can set up a dyno day at my local sponsor's shop. They have a year old eddy current load absorbing Dynojet that is all wheel drive capable (Not that it matters for us)

They usually charge $50 for 3 pulls at dyno days, but I am sure I can work something out if tuning time is desired.

Here's their website: http://www.all-aspects-motorsports.com/dyno.htm

I'm sure some of the local Miata gearheads would be willing to put people up at their house if need be.

What about combining it with my club's autocross weekends? Dyno/get together on Saturday, autocross on Sunday.

I run www.tidewatersportscarclub.com and for those of you that have never heard of our local site (ACU-4), it is one of the best sites on the east coast. It's a hovercraft landing pad on the Amphib base. It's 14 acres of pristine aircraft quality concrete that butts right up to the Chesapeake Bay.

Here's some videos:

In Car:

Here's one the locals driving his LS6 Miata around ACU-4. Not a fast run, but it shows you the site:

I'd drive to Va Beach. I grew up in Great Bridge:bigtu:

PTuning dyno > all.

http://www.ptuning.com/html/services.cfm

Though they are more likely to be ---- retentive about letting us do our own thing.

So Stephanie, you'd be willing to drive up to DE from Texas?

Stephanie Turner 12-12-2007 12:35 PM

We'd probably get on a plane.... but yeah, I have several customers in the NY, New England area that want us to tune or look over their cars. We've been to NC, Utah, Oregon, Houston, and NY to help people. It's no big deal. :)
Stephanie

Newbsauce 12-12-2007 03:22 PM

Okay... we are flying Steph to VA for a meet! :)

PTuning has an amazing dyno set up are a bit costly. They charge 1000$ for a day of rental time. They usually will do 15 people in that time with about 3 runs each. They will also provide food and beverages which is a nice plus. As for letting us run things I am not so sure if they would let us do that. If there is interest I will go over and talk to them about it though.

For the record, if it's not in ATL I'm not down.

Amen.

You damn Georgia folk never leave your state.

Braineack 12-13-2007 09:27 AM

If we are going to do a dyno day around here we are going to a dynojet.

Ferrari's Custom Car and Truck in Sterling Va would have the best prices for that. They are great and will let us just do our thing. (I've run there three times. $50 for thre pulls or $75 for an hour, by myself. I'm sure a dyno day would be something like $30-$40 each for the entire day. No one uses their dyno.) No dyno operator so we can strap up and make a shit load of pulls however we please.

If we are doing a small group of tunes, we'll go to Classsic GT in Manassas VA. Great prices for a dyno dynamics. PT Tuning is expensive and they wont let you touch the car while they have it on the dyno, so good luck trusting them with your tune.

I just don't trust my car with that distance right now. Dyno or not.

kotomile 12-13-2007 11:08 AM

I'd drive to FL for a tune, since I'm down there many weekends, but why would I when the experts (Ben, ATL93LE, Foundsoul, diyautotune and their dyno, etc.) are in ATL less than half the distance away? Why would we get our tune anywhere else when the people who built the PNP are right there? I'mjussayin'

MX5-4me 12-13-2007 11:51 AM

I'd be down for something in ATL if the timing is right. It's only about 5-6 hour drive for me depending on traffic and the lead content of my right foot.
