Ebay Shippers
I ordered all the parts for a turbo install about a month ago, mostly from ebay.
Most of the stuff I ordered showed up in a reasonable time, but I'm still waiting for a couple little things to show up. I called the vendors, and both said "Oh, it looks like that hasn't been shipped yet." I'm planning to finish up the install this weekend (finally) but both of these parts are necessary, and one vendor absolutely refused to overnight the part to me even though it was their fault it didn't ship. If I had noticed earlier that I was missing these parts, overnighting may not have been necessary but when you order 100 parts, it's not easy to keep track of which ones haven't showed up yet. Am I out in left field for being mad that they wouldn't do everything they could to get me that part? |

I would have canceled my order just based on principle. Vendors are a dime a dozen.

If I canceled the order, I would have had to wait even longer to get the stuff. The one I'm waiting for now is a 2.5" stainless mandrel bend section to be used in making the downpipe. He refused to ship it overnight so I won't have it until Monday, which makes it COMPLETELY USELESS for me to finish my project this weekend.

The problem with ebay is the allowance of "stores." This compromised the original intent of the site: Have an item you want to sell, sell it on ebay auction style. Most "vendors" who sell on ebay don't give a flying fuck about you or their rating. They hardly have the things they sell in stock and couldn't care less if you give them negative feedback. Stop buying shit through ebay and you wont have these issues.

i think I am done with ebay, except when I am actually looking for something on auction. I got the turbo from some guy about 2 hours south of me pretty cheap because he was just selling it old-school.
These stores are a bunch of crap. |

I've never had any issue using eBay except when I bought something from UrbanSoot auction style. :bang: Go figure. I've actually been quite impressed with how fast the several intercoolers, intercooler piping kits, and aem wb02's came from internet stores.

In theory, when you're competing against 180,000 other ebay stores doing the exact same thing, you have to do your best to satisfy the customer.
I'm just sick of dealing with it all. |
I've been on ebay for going on 6 years now and thats where I buy 90% of anything I buy. Yea its taking a risk, but so is driving a car to work. Check out feedbacks and find the most reputable guy. If its a bigger ticket item, email the fucking guy first and foremost. Win the item, then pay right away.
I have yet to have any "major" problems through ebay. Ebay has definitely changed my wallet, and has given me the ability to mod the miata beyond what I ever thought. I sell and buy on ebay at least 6 times a month. Sometimes I have 20 auctions going on, depends on my free time. I encourage everyone I know to try ebay, whether it be for selling or buying. Of course there are deadbeats on ebay. But there's also deadbeats at the shops. Any shop around here is run by a dickface ------ that charges $45 for a fucking 90deg coupler. Come on now....I work to hard to throw my money away. Haha. well this was his first turbo kit he sold. the one with the mystery turbo it turned out. He took like 60 days to ship the fucking thing to me. He did refund my money when I received it without the turbo specified.

For the OP... Most shops who sell performance parts on eBay aren't making much on the sell. So for them to give free next day shipping wouldn't be feasible. We sell on eBay where I work, and sometimes the product gets sold to a walk-in customer, so we don't have it in stock for eBay anymore. It happens, you can't keep everything in inventory in the HOPES that someone will buy it. You sell to the first person who has the money, and order a replacement to cover the eBay listing. They should have sent out an email saying the item had sold out, and given a time-frame for when it would be in-stock, and offered to refund your money. We do this the day we get the paypal payment, so the buyer knows the first day it's out of stock or "it's shipping out, and here's the tracking info." So if the seller has a good feedback score, your part slipped thru some how, which happens, cause we are all human. Keep that in mind when you try to hold judgement on a business or individual. IT HAPPENS. They aren't purposely trying to fuck you over, they don't even know you. They aren't trying to ruin your weekend by holding onto the part, and they don't make enough on the part to be able to expedite the shipping to make up for it. Sometimes "I'm sorry" is all they can do. |
Problem with ebay stores is merchant often does not have the part in stock and uses your money to cover the purchase. A lot of manufacturers and distributors are slow as balls to ship out 1 part. So you end up waiting for the item to be shipped from the manufacturer to the distributor to your merchant, and then to you. Then you have to deal with people not getting POs out on time, problems with payment types and payments clearing, and ....

I understand all this but I'm still mad that after a month of not having the part, and him having my money, I still won't have it in time to use it.
I sent an email 2 weeks ago asking where it was but I never heard anything back, then I sort of forgot about the one part because I was busy tracking down another one that had been lost in shipping. I understand that they don't make enough on each part to cover overnighting something for $100 but at the same time, if they don't screw up very often they should be able to cover their screw ups for a measly $100. |
It pisses me off that people sell shit BIN or auction style on ebay that they don't even have... Then six weeks later you're like, "Dude, where the fuck is my shit??" and you get, "oh, its on backorder." if you didn't have it in your fucking hands when you pressed the list button (Or, your computer software listed it...) you shouldn't be allowed to complete a sale and collect money. The fuckers that pull that shit should be banned from ebay.. But I forgot, its not an auction site anymore, its a business forum.

Yes, weeks and weeks is a long time to wait for an item, and I don't condone that AT ALL. They should be letting you know what is going on at least once a week, so you know you haven't been forgotten. |

Well, performance parts in general, if they make 4-5% after all the eBay/CC/paypal fees, they are actually doing pretty well. So to cover the $100 overnight fee on a screw up would wipe out 10 sell's profits. So it really isn't feasible, especially when you consider they still have the scammer who buys stuff and then files a dispute so they don't have to pay for it. The buyer is ALWAYS RIGHT when it comes to paypal. So long as the buyer sticks to saying he never got it, he gets his money back. We can PROVE he signed for it from UPS, and he can still get his money back. This happens some times, and it really sucks. If they are expecting to have it, or they have a small quantity on hand, they need to sell it. The BEST scenario is to not have enough to meet demand, you never want to have excess product. So if you order 10, you list 10 on eBay with the ad ending a day or two after the item is to arrive. If you get a call and are told that the product has been delayed, you don't take the auction down and lose the listing fees, cause it's still advertising, so you leave it up. Seriously, eBay is not just people having an online garage sale, it's big money for alot of businesses. You have to look at it from the seller's prospective sometimes, and learn to relax. Yes, weeks and weeks is a long time to wait for an item, and I don't condone that AT ALL.
