A whine? You mean the sucking sound? That's because the air filter is right above the clutch master cylinder on the stock greddy setup. I do miss it being that noticeable.
|
nah man i hear the sucking sound and then i also hear a whine also. Whine is throughout the entire rpm range though.

No i believe it should stay open when in vacuum as those valves are made to recirculate so it does not really matter if its open. The dual spring design is the one that is made to stay closed.

That whining sound was my slowly-failing transmission. I pray that I never hear a sound like that come from my turbo.
|
What kind of BOV is this doood running. |
No idea man Savington doesnt seem to want to give it up ggrrrr

TiAL

Well thats what i was thinking of anyway. Fucking ricey piece of shit on my car now gets annoying.
|
Well i installed my Forge Bov right on top of my Track Dog IC... I gotta say its silent... I do have some turbo surge at lower pressures where there isnt enough of pressure to get the plastic valve open. Any fixes for that are welcome
|
After hearing and seeing tials in real life, that is the only way to go. /thread

If anyone is looking for a cheap cost, but good quality BOV, NOPI has a RFL knockoff for like $40 that is all metal and is a good bit quieter than a real RFL. I have the real RFL and like it... I also have a real Greddy RS that is OK. I swap them out ever now and then just for fun.
|
Well today i decided to give it some boost and rpms.. I can somewhat hear it at 6 psi at 6k rpm drop
|
loosen the adjustment of the bov?

Well it could be that. Before my countershaft bearing failed, it sounded like a supercharger. Then it would squeak and make other weird noises. I was driving to school one morning cruising in 5th going up a hill then i hear a grind noise and my revs go real high. Then i shift to 4th and it works a little then nothing. I pull over and try to see if i can limp in first and it just ground and went no where. But it was ok. I scored another 5 speed of unknown condition for 50 bucks and it shifts like butter. It has for 40k. I found that the lucas gear oil works great in my 5 speed along with that oil stabilizer. I am thinkng about trying that in my 6 speed. Anyways, to get to my point. I put that oil stabilizer in there and it quit whining as much. It is still does a little, but oh well, shit happens.

nice find^
i like the way the tial sounds... for sure my choice for external wg and bov on my next setup! tial = quality |

There aren't any external adjustments on that forge. You must remove all the allen bolts and change out springs for the main piston. Did yours come with any other springs to swap in? Mine had two other springs, bought it used. Whichever one is in mine worked perfectly at any boost level on my greddy turbo and 1.6.
Next time I get a chance, I might try a Tial. I have the utmost respect for their quality, but why fix a problem that doesn't exsist? |
I bought mine directly from forge and no it did not come with any other springs.
