Nice

chuckerants 09-17-2007 12:40 AM

Now that is dirt friggin cheap!

firedog25 09-17-2007 01:20 AM

Haven't heard a problem with them yet either. When I get my projectors put in on my BSP kit I might go that route.

I was thinking about these: http://www.jrtlighting.com/hlh4.htm

I like the fact they are an HID capasule siamesed with a halogen bulb for high beam.

But I'm not sure there is actually improvement to be had when putting the HID bulbs into a lense system designed for halogen.

I was thinking the same thing. I've got the original brainstorm lopros with one lamp missing. Going to swap in the Optilux 2500s and these HID kits would work.

firedog25 09-17-2007 10:28 AM

I just ordered these on Saturday night. $130 for the set isn't that bad. I saw a used set go for almost $80 on EBay... of course I upbid until it hit $75 or so just to see how far the otehr guy went. Appearantly selling them with the shit they came with makes them worth more.

wow nice kit for price..

My friend is the one who modified his BSP's to accept the Hella 90mm's. He's going to do the same to mine next week. I'll take pics and post the process.

m2cupcar 09-22-2007 04:04 PM

Does he have a site? are those the same as the optilux 2500s? I saw the 2500s installed here, so I knew they'd fit (sure there's a better alternative than epoxy). They come up cheap on eBay ($25/pair).

piratetim 09-22-2007 04:05 PM

Yea theres no gain in adding HID on a halogen pattern lens. But it will look a lot cooler and the light will be cleaner.

Does anyone know if the the 2001 and later Projector headlamps will fit my 00'?

Loki047 09-22-2007 04:32 PM

good find

No, he alters the buckets to accept the 90mm Hella projector beams. He's going to do mine next week or so, I'll be sure to document the process.

thanks- that sounds very interesting

To install the 01+ headlamps i think you need the hood and bumper cover because they're totally different. It might just be the bumper though.
My '99s headlights suck i need something brighter. Silverstars worth a try?

Save your money.

I've tried Sylvania Silverstars, OSRAM Siverstars, and the Sylvania XtraVision. I couldn't notice any more light output with any of them. Stay with the XtraVision.

Coincidentally, I noticed last night that one of my Osram SS had burned out so replaced it with the XtraVision bulb.

FWIW, the Sylvania SS lasted about 2 months on my 99 and the OSram has lasted about 1 year. I even wrote a letter to Sylanvia and they gave me a full refund on 4 SSs even without a receipt when I told them what happened.

I emailed them about this:

Hello,

Yes there will be glare for non-projector headlights but our H4 bulbs comes
with a glare guard which reduces the amount to glare to a less level.

Our HID kit are all plug and play and should not take more than 2 hours even
for beginners (30 mins for experienced installers)

I myself own a miata and have the HID conversion and it does light up the
road despite a little glare. Please let us know if you have further
questions

FWIW, that miataroadster site sells their H4 kit with or without e-code headlights.

I got some HIDs from this seller on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-X...QQcmdZViewItem
$89 total.
Shipping was fast and all that good stuff.
Just installed them in my Moss LoPro headlight kit, and they look really good. No problems with the kit whatsoever, install was straightforward, I'm really happy with them, and don't see a reason to spend much more money than I did...

Is there an issue with running HID's on a car with day time running lights?

firedog25 09-23-2007 09:48 PM

Maybe the ballast getting hot or burning out prematurely?
