Default F me runnin. Just missed a $400 hard top!

I just missed a $400 Hard Top on Craigslist 10 minutes ago. Ad just popped up and I emailed him, then called. Should have called first. I was the 2nd caller by 1 minute. The guy is even "holding" it for the other guy till he shows up tonight. Gaaah. Once he's up to 40 phone calls today I think he'll figure out it was priced too damn cheap. Thing looks to be in pretty much perfect shape. Coulda made an easy $500 reselling it.

Anybody else miss out on a hot deal recently and want to vent too!

All on CL, all in past few months of build, missed all by less than half hour:

Complete low pro headlight setup - $50
Fiberglass frame race seat (forget brand, but basically new $250 seat with FIA cert) - $80
Torsen - $450
Test pipe/prop valve/new 1.8 race pads - all for $80

I forget what else...I've gotta learn to use those CL helpers

This HT was local! All I had to do was drive cross town. Long distance the deals on CL can be endless!

$500 running car with HT certainly outdoes mine. Ouch.

Yeah, all of mine were local, I still suck at jumping on the ball. Half the time it happens on Saturdays when people post things, and I'm stuck at work...money in hand...just can't get there fast enough.

EDIT: Missing out on a $400 hardtop takes the cake though. I'm just buttsore because every time they were parts I was REALLY looking for.

I bought a great Crystal White '91 with a hardtop and a Trackdog rollbar for $850 in January.

Not sure of great deal or not but I got my Miata off Craigslist for $2,000. '96 175k, OBX mani, ebay T04E turbo, full 2.5" exh. no cat, EMB w/ PNP Harness & boost sensor, tokico's and drop springs, autometer boost gauge, wideband w/ gauge, small FMIC and BOV.

I added a battery and a fuel pump trying to get it running and it ended up being crossed fuel lines under the intake! Then added 305's and a turbo blanket for a grand total of $2,300. It still doesn't run because I can't decided to keep the EMB and buy the rest of the bandaids or buy a MS and prepare to learn learn learn. (too scared)

Miatas are expensive in my area... never priced low.

A lady in the thirties damaged her left front fender, crushed the fender and into the engine bay, got part of the radiator too I think. It didn't look that bad. She sold it or $800, including a hardtop. Foolish at the time, I didn't pick it up.

Some lady around here was selling a black '97 with fairly low miles for something like $2700 with hardtop. I called her up within an hour of her posting, wanting to buy the hardtop. I wasn't even lowballing her and she still refused. I should have driven over there and waved cash in her face to see if she'd change her mind, but it was a bit far to drive on a weeknight just to take a chance. Unless the soft top is complete trash and the hardtop is necessary to keep the driver dry, what's the problem? I guess some people just don't like money. I should have just bought the whole thing and then resold it. Would have gotten a free hardtop, and likely profited on the car itself.

I found a ht for 600, told the guy I would come pick it up and give him cash in hand, deal was too good to be true perfect paint, the color I wanted and only an hour drive. Well I drive out there, call the guy tell him Im close to meet him, he flipped the car somehow and trashed the top as well as the rest of the car. Some kind of luck huh, I have not found one under 1000 since.
