So some stuff happened.

I finished the rebuild on the front diff. After finishing the pinion felt tight, but I figured it might wear in a bit?

And then I used the truck to help move in to the new house (2 whole loads!). Have to justify it's usefulness to the GF.

And then the Si was totaled and eventually we (EO2k and I) cut it up(after removing the k20 and wiring harness) and hauled it off to the dump in the bed of the truck.

And now the sad post.

I decided the truck was never going to be the right vehicle to tow (anything really) with and thus it had to go to make room for something that will tow better. My friend Eric lives up in OR on a semi rural piece of property and had expressed interest in the truck before.

So last week I replaced the headliner finally.

3M super 77 industrial glue setting up.

I also installed newer model XJ side mirrors(the original mirrors are comically small) and fixed vent windows (the rotating vent windows leak and break). Both can be seen in the picture above.

Eric flew in on Friday evening and we spent all of Saturday fixing things on the truck.

Oil change, Hood adjusted, and most importantly we fixed the upper hinge on the driver's door.

That seems fine right?

We cut out the center of the rusty bit and then made a plate that slides inside the A pillar. We then welded nuts to the back the of the plate and drilled the A pillar and the hinge. It now all bolts together and is much much much sturdier than it was from the factory even.

And having fixed some stuff, we loaded the truck up on Saturday evening and headed out at sunrise on Sunday.

Eric driving somewhere on I-5.

The view for hours upon hours...

Spare long block and tire and wheel with tire, and other odds and ends (and yet we still forgot to load the sweet rear bumper I have for it).

11 hours later we finally made it to his place in OR. The only problem we had was about 30 miles from his place something started leaking oil pretty bad. I think it's the valve cover gasket, but not positive(also not my problem any more ).

On Monday we went Kayaking on the Willamette. OR is really nice.

Putting in near Aidan's personal hell.

And on Tuesday I flew home. And so now the Comanche is gone, which is quite bittersweet. I made Eric promise to offer it back to me first if he ever goes to sell it.

Here was my parting shot (we installed the lumber rack he had in his yard, looks ok I guess).
