Got a Boss 302

So I drove a Brembo model Mustang last summer and fell in love with the power and handling of the new Mustangs. I also like that they are 4 seater for the fam. I was planning on getting a used one in the next couple of years. I bought the S2000 knowing it was a stop gap. Well my wife got a company car and we could get rid of her Civic and so I started looking at trading in 2 of my cars and picking up a Mustang. They happened to get a Boss 302 in Wednesday and my first reaction was I can build a better base model for cheaper. I then got home and read the specs...4k over a Brembo model and I got the list below

Torsen Race Dif
Recarro Seats
Aluminium Radiator
Oil Cooler
Custom CNC ported heads
High sodium valves
Cams
IRTB tumpets
Intake Manifold
444 hp
Forged pistons
Race spec crank and bearings
Carbon clutch
5 way Tokico shocks
Stiffer springs/sways
Track pads
Stiffer Suspension Bushings
Wider wheels
255/285 P Zero's
3.73 rear
Trackkey
3 way adjustable feedback steering
Suede wheel
Stiffer brake lines
Factory side pipes with block off plates
splitter
diffuser
fog light delete
brake cooling template
no sound deadening/undercoating, just seam sealer

I'm probably missing a few things but I was shocked at what you get for the price. The motor is what the 302r's ran all last year. I was also surprised at what it has beat in lap times, Audi R8/M3/Z06. Then I saw a youtube video of it running 12.3 stock and 11.5 on DR. I spent 2 days going back and forth with the dealer. I now own a Boss 302 and it rips ass :) Oh, and I also get a track weekend at Miller in Utah on Ford.

It will do rolling 2nd burn outs at 50mph bone stock. I'll post ripper vids when I get a chance. I'm really liking this car, other than Hustler sending texts all weekend about how he and green miata will drink my blood, his brake fluid is tiger blood, he will own me at TWS, etc lol :hustler:

Do they freely void any warranty claims after said event at Miller?

Braineack 04-18-2011 10:22 AM

Funny, my dad just told me yesterday I should buy a Boss 302.

Nope, they provide their own Boss 302's for the event. They want you to track this car. I talked to SVT by email all day Friday. You should see the manual, you will not believe some of the stuff written. Will post asap.

Awesome car man, Boss 302R's finished 1-3 at Barber 2 weekends ago in the Continental sports car series.

They match up really well with E92 M3's, but at just $41K MSRP.

Jim Farley, Ford’s group VP of global marketing, didn’t have to fly to California for the debut of the Mustang Boss 302. No one told him to. He came anyway. “I’ve been driving my own Mustang right through the past two Michigan winters thinking about this project,” he says. “From a business standpoint, the Boss 302 shouldn’t have happened. But it happened. My dream for the car was that it would make a lot of money for a guy street racing. It should be a car that winds up on YouTube doing something illegal. I’ve been waiting 20-plus years to launch a car like this.”

Manual Highlights with pic proof

The last two pages of the manual are titled "Track Use Preperations"

remove rear brake dust shields to improve cooling
run tires at 41psi hot
recommends trackey for track driving
section on how to bed in brakes
section on damper adjustment in regards to turn in and curb hopping
"On a smooth track with aggresive apex curbs, set the rear damper to position 4, but only if the driver uses those curbs"

So how much did you pay for it? Sounds pretty badass to me

mgeoffriau 04-18-2011 10:44 AM

You guys and your fancy new cars. I need a better job.

dustinb 04-18-2011 10:46 AM

Sweet car! The new mustangs are pretty insane.

jacob300zx 04-18-2011 11:00 AM

In all seriousness I paid MSRP, but if your not accounting for someones trade in its really not info. I was going to trade in 3 cars to get rid of payments, they tried to stiff me on one of them so I pulled it off the table Friday and said ok to the other two prices. If you get one for MSRP you just stole it. Most advertised and from forum talk are paying 5-10k over msrp :( Just take into account that the weekend at Miller should be worth 2-4k. It was the usual dealer BS all day Thursday with a starting offer of 16.5 interest and 1k payments, lol. They wanted me out of there Friday and sent the GM in to seal the deal...45min of salesman vs salesman later :) Unless you buy your cars at auction prices never trade in a car.

Coolio.

What do they want you to set them at otherwise?

Just sold 2 of my foxbodies (last week). Will never go back to the Ford Mustang.

You would almost think that everyone in the mustang community has a dildo as their shifter handle.

"its not the band i hate, its the fans."

Nice car! Should have got a z06

Old mustangs yes... Ford has outdone themselves the last few years though.

18psi 04-18-2011 11:31 AM

I think you missed his point

Which they ride with their assholes when nobody's looking? ;)

I'm impressed that Ford would actually sell a track-floggable car like this.

What other manufacturers do this, aside from Porsche?

lol, really. Bailout King? Government Motors? Off topic, when are they paying us back for that stock purchase? I'll take mine in a silver certificate please. I will never buy a GM product in the near future, I deleted Savington off my facebook yesterday for being a socialist anti-capitalism douche bag. I take my constitutional love seriously. Go America!
