Got a Boss 302

So I drove a Brembo model Mustang last summer and fell in love with the power and handling of the new Mustangs. I also like that they are 4 seater for the fam. I was planning on getting a used one in the next couple of years. I bought the S2000 knowing it was a stop gap. Well my wife got a company car and we could get rid of her Civic and so I started looking at trading in 2 of my cars and picking up a Mustang. They happened to get a Boss 302 in Wednesday and my first reaction was I can build a better base model for cheaper. I then got home and read the specs...4k over a Brembo model and I got the list below

Torsen Race Dif
Recarro Seats
Aluminium Radiator
Oil Cooler
Custom CNC ported heads
High sodium valves
Cams
IRTB tumpets
Intake Manifold
444 hp
Forged pistons
Race spec crank and bearings
Carbon clutch
5 way Tokico shocks
Stiffer springs/sways
Track pads
Stiffer Suspension Bushings
Wider wheels
255/285 P Zero's
3.73 rear
Trackkey
3 way adjustable feedback steering
Suede wheel
Stiffer brake lines
Factory side pipes with block off plates
splitter
diffuser
fog light delete
brake cooling template
no sound deadening/undercoating, just seam sealer

I'm probably missing a few things but I was shocked at what you get for the price. The motor is what the 302r's ran all last year. I was also surprised at what it has beat in lap times, Audi R8/M3/Z06. Then I saw a youtube video of it running 12.3 stock and 11.5 on DR. I spent 2 days going back and forth with the dealer. I now own a Boss 302 and it rips ass :) Oh, and I also get a track weekend at Miller in Utah on Ford.

http://inlinethumb61.webshots.com/83...600x600Q85.jpg

It will do rolling 2nd burn outs at 50mph bone stock. I'll post ripper vids when I get a chance. I'm really liking this car, other than Hustler sending texts all weekend about how he and green miata will drink my blood, his brake fluid is tiger blood, he will own me at TWS, etc lol :hustler:

Splitime 04-18-2011 10:20 AM

Do they freely void any warranty claims after said event at Miller?

Braineack 04-18-2011 10:22 AM

Funny, my dad just told me yesterday I should buy a Boss 302.

jacob300zx 04-18-2011 10:24 AM

Nope, they provide their own Boss 302's for the event. They want you to track this car. I talked to SVT by email all day Friday. You should see the manual, you will not believe some of the stuff written. Will post asap.

Awesome car man, Boss 302R's finished 1-3 at Barber 2 weekends ago in the Continental sports car series.

They match up really well with E92 M3's, but at just $41K MSRP.

jacob300zx 04-18-2011 10:43 AM

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...302_-road_test

Jim Farley, Ford’s group VP of global marketing, didn’t have to fly to California for the debut of the Mustang Boss 302. No one told him to. He came anyway. “I’ve been driving my own Mustang right through the past two Michigan winters thinking about this project,” he says. “From a business standpoint, the Boss 302 shouldn’t have happened. But it happened. My dream for the car was that it would make a lot of money for a guy street racing. It should be a car that winds up on YouTube doing something illegal. I’ve been waiting 20-plus years to launch a car like this.”

Manual Highlights with pic proof

The last two pages of the manual are titled "Track Use Preperations"

remove rear brake dust shields to improve cooling
run tires at 41psi hot
recommends trackey for track driving
section on how to bed in brakes
section on damper adjustment in regards to turn in and curb hopping
"On a smooth track with aggresive apex curbs, set the rear damper to position 4, but only if the driver uses those curbs"

You guys and your fancy new cars. I need a better job.

dustinb 04-18-2011 10:46 AM

Sweet car! The new mustangs are pretty insane.

touche:giggle:

jacob300zx 04-18-2011 11:00 AM

In all seriousness I paid MSRP, but if your not accounting for someones trade in its really not info. I was going to trade in 3 cars to get rid of payments, they tried to stiff me on one of them so I pulled it off the table Friday and said ok to the other two prices. If you get one for MSRP you just stole it. Most advertised and from forum talk are paying 5-10k over msrp :( Just take into account that the weekend at Miller should be worth 2-4k. It was the usual dealer BS all day Thursday with a starting offer of 16.5 interest and 1k payments, lol. They wanted me out of there Friday and sent the GM in to seal the deal...45min of salesman vs salesman later :) Unless you buy your cars at auction prices never trade in a car.

JasonC SBB 04-18-2011 11:02 AM

Coolio.

What do they want you to set them at otherwise?

Just sold 2 of my foxbodies (last week). Will never go back to the Ford Mustang.

You would almost think that everyone in the mustang community has a dildo as their shifter handle.

"its not the band i hate, its the fans."

Nice car! Should have got a z06

Old mustangs yes... Ford has outdone themselves the last few years though.

18psi 04-18-2011 11:31 AM

I think you missed his point

Which they ride with their assholes when nobody's looking? ;)

I'm impressed that Ford would actually sell a track-floggable car like this.

What other manufacturers do this, aside from Porsche?

lol, really. Bailout King? Government Motors? Off topic, when are they paying us back for that stock purchase? I'll take mine in a silver certificate please. I will never buy a GM product in the near future, I deleted Savington off my facebook yesterday for being a socialist anti-capitalism douche bag. I take my constitutional love seriously. Go America!

hustler 04-18-2011 11:45 AM

I regularly shit all over tta s197's except for the Vorahlag car with 5300's. Ready you chest for my fecal payload. I had churrasca with chimichurri last night, it's going to be muddy, just how you like it.

Braineack 04-18-2011 11:45 AM

Rick's a Canadian...GM doesn't phase him.

18psi 04-18-2011 11:49 AM

Wait, did you guys not get your free Obama money? lulz

Back on topic though: Ford has been kicking ass lately.

hustler 04-18-2011 11:51 AM

If I weren't so painfully in love with my car I'd get a white base model GT with AST 5300's, trans and diff cooler, and never look back.

I gave you a lot of shit but seriously love that car.

You son of a bitch. Its time for the TWS Challenge Thread. I'm telling you this right now, you are getting your ass spanked. This is an epic battle...

USA vs Japan
Chubby vs Skinny
Lonestar vs Pinot
Factory vs Garage built
Mullets vs Hollister
Beard vs foreskin face
CI vs PSI
3800lbs vs 2400lbs
girth vs length

If I win I get to Golden shower the green car in Lonestar. Start a poll, lol

hustler 04-18-2011 11:52 AM

I'm about to cash-out on my fomoco which I bought at less than $2/share. ;)

We rock ford trucks still! Explorer, Excursion.

The boss 302 is nice and I am certain the technology is way awesomer than what my foxes had. Like I said, its not the manufacture, its the people.

I dont know how it is where you are at, but if you have a 20+ year old car thats modded the shit is surely top secret, worth more than gold and CAN pump anything on the street (that seems to be the mentality).

I have been to some really awesome dyno days in the past and from experience, the mustang guys are totally fucked.

Viper, z06, M3, Porsche I could live with. Heck, I looked at this specific car here:
2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
But i just couldnt do it regardless if it was a deal. ($37,797 with 7k km on it)

jacob300zx 04-18-2011 12:04 PM

Is that you driving off in the miata in the background? lol Yes, most Mustang guys are tools, just like every S2000 owner keeps his track mods filed under top secret. I can't hold that against SVT, Ford, Boss 302, or Hustlers GF.

that fat ass 4,000lb gt500 gets owned on the track against the boss. look it up on youtube. motortrend test at laguna seca. 2+ seconds per lap is an eternity on a road course. z06 is not an option at $70,000+ versus the boss at 40k! or maybe money is no object to you. if so, the zr1 is easier to drive (around corners) and way faster. or go porsche gt2rs if your doin' it like that!

I wasnt looking at it cause I was worried about its track ability, i think its a sharp looking car and seems priced right (for Canada). As for a car like a z06, you can find a super low k '07 for around 50k (canadian) and that's a TON of car (500+ HP).

Haha, I love this forum. Where else can you talk about a Boss 302, bailouts, DP, golden showers, CL bandage adds (guessing) nws, stocks, silver, bbq, all in two pages. I'm going to pick up spoolin in the Mustang and head to a BBQ joint, we will be discussing Hustler's ownage at TWS, his GF, beards, etc while swimming in BBQ. We might hit the range up on the way home, might stop at HEB for some Old Spice...we will see how the day goes.

Hitting the range? I canfit golf clubs in my cars too...on the tire trailer...;(

Reminds me of a dyno day a couple years ago I went to. First car on the dyno was a GT/CS with boltons and a tune. The thing made something pathetic like 254hp. The guy went off ranting and complaining about how the dyno was messed up. They took the GT off the dyno, strapped my '90 miata down and it made 262hp. The guy just got in his car and furiously, but slowly, drove off.

The new 5.0's are sick though, Ford is definitely picking it up lately.

flier129 04-18-2011 12:44 PM

Oh nvm, all new 5.0's are near $30k, fml.

lol, gotta love range equipment. Rick is right to a extent. Except the Boss forums are the opposite. The Boss 302 boards seemed to be filled with M3/911 kind of guys. That being said this is my first post about the car. I'm saving my first post on the Mustang boards for TWS pics/vids with temp tags. That oughta keep it real.

I have the important part of the LS, the recaro's and torsen t2r. I will probably upgrade to the LS trans scoop and brake ducting but the rest isn't in the picture for a family car seat delete, x bar, big front splitter, r-comps. Plus the LS is pushing 50k before dealer mark up. the Boss 302 non lS is the bang for the buck.
