If you look at the pic you can see the roof of the cabin that is on it. Pretty good sized island. Cabin needs work, but it will be a fun project, plus a nice little getaway. Plus it's only half an hour from home.

That is pretty nice. Gonna clean it up I assume? Make some nice nature areas and hang out spots, maybe a grilling/party area.

It's definitely...

You should impale a pig's head at the entrance.

Awesome.

Does look like a great place to get away from society for a while.

Wasn't really forcing anything. Didn't think it really mattered to anyone.

It's $1,600 per year lease for everything, plus I get to spend the first $4,800 in lease payments on materials to fix it up in lieu of the payment. After that, it's $1,600 per year for the rest of the lease.

Pretty good deal.

Yes, it mattered to everyone. They were just afraid to ask <G>.

What kind of work do you have to do to it? How large is it?

$1600 per year? I pay more than that per month for cat food.

I think you should declare it to be sovereign territory and secede from the union. Tax the populace at 100%.

It's gonna lose some of its cool factor. Bear in mind, there is little water in the state of Nebraska, and this may be one of literally four or five of privately owned islands in the entire state. The lake is man made. The entire lake is sand based (Ex-sand pit where they extracted gravel for road construction). There used to be a public beach since the 1930's. You can see the beach in the upper right portion of the lake. It's still really cool to me and with it being 30 minutes from home, we will get to use it quite a bit.
