Default Got my wallet stolen..

So after taking the gf out for dinner all is good. Come home, relax and watch some tv. Hours later I get bored and go online to browse the forums and remembered I need to place my order with Boundary engineering for my oil pump. Looking for my wallet I realized I dont remember where I put it or even when the last time I remember seeing it. Must have dropped it or left it at the resturant
I go check my account online fearing the worst and see 3 transactions that WERENT made by me. Costing over $200+
I franticly check my other banks checking account online and see 4 transactions that I did not make. Costing over $200+

FML!!

I call both banks to report credit/checking card fraud and cancel both cards.
Since it was fraud I wont be responsible for any of it but dam this really pisses me off!

So when do the new purchases arrive at your door? haha

I've only had to dispute one charge on a card I lost, and it was fairly easy. Some paperwork and a couple days of waiting and poof...all better.

Sucks man... What's worse is that they act quick to use it too. I have been lucky thus far with mine.

They do work quickly once they have your ****. An ex-GF had hers stolen out of her desk at work. They had fliers up on the wall to remind everyone that there was a seminar from 3:00-4:00, so the thief knew exactly when the room would be empty, and nobody locked the door. By the time she found it missing and called the credit card companies (around 4:30) the thief had already charged the fare for a taxi cab, evidently on his way to Best Buy where he purchased a new TV.

Never have a card that is tied to your bank account that has the little visa symbol on it. Ask for the one that does not, an ATM card and not a check card. An ATM version without the visa or mastercard symbol on it will always require a PIN to access your account funds. With regard to the Visa ones, the bank *may* return your money to your account if they desire but you are not actually afforded the same protection under the law that an actual credit card holds. Bankcards are legally only regulated by internal bank policy in cases of fraud when it comes to your funds being restored. They aren't legally required to replace your stolen funds any more than Walmart has to replace your stolen bicycle. They only have to cooperate with the investigation.

Short story- protect your account by getting a bankcard/ATM card without the Visa logo (all banks have them if you ask).
