I have less money in my whole car than many of you have in turbo setups and engine rebuilds. The sky is the limit with a small block and parts are available. There is a 600hp small block in my neighbor's garage that I could drop right in. That is attractive to me. I have all the options in the world to make this car crazy. My first priority was to make it fast and road worthy. It's 300hp and 330 lbft torque at 2500lbs fully wet. Another 100 hp and I don't think that I'll be able to wipe the smile off. I'm not saying that I like the car on ebay. The only guy that has to like it is the one that owns it.

Makes sense to me, you had the engine right there already. Personally I like the Ford IRS anyway. Its common, cheap, supported, and capable. Good point.

Sorry I missed this thread, that guy is local to me and has been at the auto X a few times. I have never really paid much attention to the car, although I do remember one particular course where after a long right hander it would smoke really badly. He said it was something to do with the crankcase vent.

I think that is a homegrown install like my own. I've seen it around the forums, but I've not seen detail like welds, etc. I would not buy that car without inspecting the install/fabrication in person. $5K is probably not a bad place to start if you are going to trailer it home and have the ability to redo most of the conversion if necessary.

The last thing that I recall about that car was that he was going to run the stock diff until it blew. He does not mention a Ford diff which is what most of us are using. Consider that it would be another $1500-$2000 to the rear up to speed.

HAHA He told me it would run in the 9s! With that wheel and tire combo, I think that they are 600 treadwear!

It's his fuel map...it's got a nasty hole. Tune a few milliseconds on the nos timer and it'll run 9's. Unless he's too sandwich crazy.

I stopped reading his thread when his first post said he built it in 60 hours.
