Help me settle an argument; Moral dilemma

I like to think I have a pretty opened mind group of co-workers. We pass the slow times in the shop by discussing hypothetical situations. Two days ago the topic of incest came out, and we had a moral dilemma; brought on by the following scenario: Here's a summation of the question, with the details we agreed on to be held constant in the decision.

You were adopted, just a few days after birth. You are now in your 20s. You have a cousin (same age), technically a first cousin if you would have been related by blood. You have seen each other about 2 dozen times over the course of your lives, and you live about 3 hours from each other. You find her very attractive, and she has reciprocated feelings of attraction . There is a strong sexual tension between the two of you, lots of dirty comments, some inappropriate cuddling, etc.

Would you consider having sex with her? Assume this will be a one time thing, not a permanent situation. Why or why not? Would you consider this an incestual relationship, even though there is no blood relation?

Please discuss

Why would that matter? It's not about the legality of such an act, but the possible moral implications of the actions.

My position was: historically incest was considered morally wrong as a sociological defense against inbreeding. Since the two individuals would not share large amounts of genetic code, any resulting offspring would be at no more risk to inbreeding related damage than any other child. Thus, incest would not be applicable. However, if two twins, separated at birth, began a relationship later in life, and did have sexual contact, it would be incest. My defining factor was genetics.

However, by friend Shawn brought up the point "what his family caught him'? Implying that sex within the social family unit would also be incest, as he would see the two of them as of the same family, even though they were not genetically related.

Ever taken an "Ethics" class? Same principle.

Been there done that.

No it is not incest but it can make family reunions awkward.

I would say no incest relation due to the adoption thing. If it was blood relation...definite incest.

In this context, I assume that I am not, in fact, related to this person by blood.

If this is true, then I consider there to be no difference between the proposed scenario above and one in which the cousin in question is the product of the previous marriage of the woman to whom my uncle (the biological full brother of my biological father) is now married, and with whom I share no observable genetic relationship.

And that's fine by me.

Dear Abbeybros,

you are 19 and your dad remarries a woman his age who has an 18 year old daughter. you are obviously not related by anything other than marriage but you're already emancipated adults when vows are exchanged. she's a goddamn thoroughbred and you haven't been laid in two months.

do you pull her aside during the wedding reception and bang her out or do you try to ---- your new mom's hot friends?

Not blood-not incest

Would still be easier and less awkward later to just hit another vag.

I'd still do it though.

So.

This is actually pretty damn common among step-siblings. One of my GFs used to S the D of her stepbrother for weed. Now her real brother slept in the room above hers. We used to hear him masturbating when we were fukking.

I once even had a different girlfriend who had her adopted brother take naked pics of her.
