Anyone built a Magic Mirror? Just finished mine...
It is one of the rare projects that my wife actually approved (i.e. wanted for herself). I didn't use a mirror just a 24" monitor. I've got maybe $180 in it ($110 monitor, $50 RaspberryPi / SD card, and $15 mounting bracket). The only modules I am running are Weather Forecast, Date/Time, Current Weather, Google PIctures and Google Calendar. The pictures are set up to rotate in random order every 10 seconds. The calendar is set up to show the current week and the next 5 weeks after that. Once the week ends the calendar scrolls up so the current week is always on top. My work schedule (blue for nightshift, yellow for dayshift, green for vacation), white vacations and red birthday/anniversary/etc make up the events. So much nicer than our Dollar Tree calendar we usually have on the wall. I have a motion sensor ordered so I can get the display to shut off when we are asleep or not home.

I thought I would just be following a guide but I have yet to find one that works. There are several out there but the software has changed so much lately that they are all outdated. I found a video, in French, that kind of shows the setup of the calendar and there is a six part series on youtube with an Asian girl that gets you 90% of the way through the Google Photos setup (kind of). My goal was to post a step by step guide on what I did but that has been harder than building the mirror. You can find some of my config files here:
