This month I'm taking a break from refined carbs and most gratuitous carbs in general. No flour or sugar. No added sugar where I can eliminate it. And to a degree, no or limited single-ingredient carbs like potatoes, rice, grains. I'm allowing a reasonable amount of starchy root vegetables because of their nutrient-to-carb ratio (beets, sweet potato, etc). Fruits are largely unlimited but I tend to eat mostly apples and bananas.

It's been about 10 days and I've made exceptions to the effect of:
1 6" flour tortilla
2 5" sprouted corn tortillas
1 hamburger bun
about a teaspoon of sugar total (for when the work coffee is old)
2 flavored yogurts with sugar added I didn't want to waste
2 french fries. that's two fries, not two orders.
whatever is in my protein bars (9g "sugars" carbs per bar?)

otherwise, pretty much only via vegetables or condiments or other places they aren't obvious.

I have lost about between 2 and 4 lbs (keep in mind I'm still eating a lot otherwise and going to the gym) so that's progress I guess? I'm not looking to get tiny, just looking to drop body fat %. So in theory if I've been keeping up the gym and protein then most of that weight lost is fat.

But this is the EATING LIKE A KING thread.

And sometimes it's hard to find good lunches at restaurants that aren't all cheapy carb bombs. And then I found this gorgeous beast:

BEJOLD! The avocado tomato mozzarella salad with chicken!

nice work, y8s. I'm about to embark on 30 days of pure paleo (or, at least as pure as i can muster). kind of looking forward to it, as i am probably 70% paleo now, and am curious how much of a difference I'll see with getting closer to full retard.

Half a pound of beef, a thick layer of cream cheese, a generous heap of sliced jalapenos, and crispy onion straws.

And a delicious barleywine in the background.

I just had a ------- boss Mahi Mahi sandwich from this 24 hour place in downtown Birmingham. ------- incredible fish by itself, thick fillets grilled and seasoned to perfection, then put on a giant sesame bun with lettuce, onion and tomato with a sauce which is pretty much thousand island. Side of cheese fries, mmm. Ultimate 3am meal. Apparently me and my friend got there just in time to mingle with the gays and transgenders/cross dressers. I think there was some sort of party somewhere last night or something. 20 or 30 of them. We actually didn't realize until we had stood in line for like 5 minutes, then looked around and it dawned on us at the same time.

Do it! So worth it. If you can, cut out modified vegetable oils (canola, safflower, sunflower, etc) and replace with coconut oil, animal lards, butter or ghee. Cut soy too, that stuff makes you not a man.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the latest creation of Dochos Concession of Sarasota, Florida, the Monte Castro:

It is a traditional pressed Cuban sandwich, dipped in a sweet/spicey batter, then deep fried and served with a drizzling of hot sauce on the top.

It's Communally Delicious!

I've been looking forward to my Friday lunch all week. Get to eat some kick *** Irish Nachos, which is basically nacho toppings (really good, fresh ones) on top of crispy shoestring fries. Very few foods I like more than cheese fries, or nachos. Combine them, and you have a winner.

My average daily meal has been two big *** protein shakes and a clif bar, maybe a little extra meat for a snack at some point and ~100oz of water. Cutting phase in progress, down 22 pounds from two months ago.

As far as i've found from articles the human body can digest about 50 grams of protein per meal. In other words anything over 50 gets flushed down the toilet so i keep my protein shakes around 40-50 grams (2 scoops).

Yeah. I've read about that somewhere too. I normally keep it around 35-40g per shake. I'm just trying to keep decent protein in my diet while I'm cutting to hopefully avoid too much muscle loss like I had last time I lost weight. This time thankfully I'm only having to cut about 35lbs, so I'm almost there. Once I start building back up, I'll increase my protein and intake more, more often (pre workout and post). Not trying to get huge though, just making it easier to put on the muscle I want.
