Homeland Security...?
Isn't it great that in this post-9/11 era that we have wonderful inter-agency coordination so that everyone is aware of what is going on, particularly in NYC? That way there is no unnecessary panic.

Low-Flying Plane in Manhattan Was a 'Photo-Op,' FAA Says - WSJ.com  As for the guy getting reprimanded for not telling the Mayor, are you kidding me? He was told the information was secret (or at least confidential, the article conflicts itself), if it was his job to pass it to the Mayor he would have been instructed to do so. To leak classified information can be considered espionage in some circumstances, so this guy was damned if he did, damned if he didn't. Someone felt the Mayor didn't have a need to know, and after seeing his reaction, it probably best he wasn't told; he seems like a blabbermouth. |
My family and friends who work and/or live in the city thought it was a real good idea
Obama is a fucking idiot. |

Maybe he should |
Yes, because the president's big idea was to have a photo shoot of his plane. He's not busy with anything else what-so-ever, and just figured he'd focus his time on thinking up the worst possible location for a plane photo shoot.
Let's all be idiots and blame this on Obama. |
it's not like he stopped for a 3 week vacation, right? RIGHT?

Someone felt the Mayor didn't have a need to know, and after seeing his reaction, it probably best he wasn't told; he seems like a blabbermouth. It's not even that deep. The person who authorized the flight had to make notifications to the municipalites because the plane was (I believe) flying in restricted airspace. I'm sure this is something that is done on a regular basis, maybe not that specific location that often, but the procedures and notification are the same. He most like assumed when he made his notifications to the appropriate agencies in NY, they did their job and notified who they were suppose too. Apparently they didn't. In actuality, and this is just my opinion, no one in that process thought anything of it because it was AF1. It was probably business as usual. All in the process probably after the fact thought about it and said..."hmmm, that was probably not a good idea, probably should have told more people" Also, the president generally does not keep tabs on what AF one is doing on a daily basis. |
Yo Brain,
That's wiggity wack, yo! Peeeese! |

Obama is a fucking idiot. http://iamwords.iamramen.com/wp-cont...facepalm21.jpg ..because one facepalm wasn't enough. I honestly think there was some other ulterior motif behind this "photoshoot". Like what has been said, it could have been 'shopped, they didn't need to use a damn F-16..could have used a Leerjet or something less threatening, they just happened to do it on a monday...the day that most people are in the city, it wouldn;t have been hard to make an announcement to the general public if it's truely a harmless fly-over....for fucks sake as much as they run those damn "switch to DTV" ads as I see, they could have easily run some ads up there. Someone made a bad decision to do this.. but it sure as hell wasn't Obama... |
