How many of you are iced-in your home right now?

Luckily I bought GTA 4 so I do not have cabin fever yet...and my GF has the Wii in the other room. Dallas was crushed by ice.

shuiend 02-02-2011 08:26 PM

My boss lives somewhere out in Texas and he sent out an email today saying he was iced in and power was intermittent.

18psi 02-02-2011 08:28 PM

Its 65 and sunny here.

turotufas 02-02-2011 08:34 PM

My nigga from work was telling me about this. Then he told me a story about highland park. Dallas people are funny.

Savington 02-02-2011 08:35 PM

I'm kind of cold in the shop right now, but it's always chilly this close to the coast. 54 degrees, probably a bit warmer in the shop.

Fuck this, I'm going home early :P

rharris19 02-02-2011 08:40 PM

It was 67 on Monday morning when I left my house to go to my shop. When I got there it was 41 and it is only 10 minutes away. We have had a few "strategic" blackouts as they are calling them. They supposedly have a plan to turn off certain areas for X amount of time to help with this supposed power issue we are having.

rider384 02-02-2011 08:43 PM

It's -10 here.

Fuck you all.

hustler 02-02-2011 08:51 PM

I've been stuck at home since Tuesday and I expect the ice to go away on Saturday. I left earlier to hit the grocery store and my 1000' trip consisted of strategic momentum for a couple hills/driveways, one dude narrowly missing me, and a graveyard of stuck cars on the side of the road...and this is day #2.

Luckily I picked-up GTA4 and it's fucking great.

Cococarbine3 02-02-2011 08:56 PM

Lake shore drive is officially closed, abandoned cars everywhere, downtown is still unplowed, snow drifts up to 10 feet, power was out for 200,000 people, 30,000 are still out of power, winds up to 70mph, Chicago school system closed first time in 12 years, most businesses closed, 6000 o'hare flights cancelled and counting, 7 people died, 3 buildings collapsed, aliens have invaded. Oh, and I ran out of milk.

Vashthestampede 02-02-2011 09:06 PM

The gf and I have been home together for the past 2 days. This fucking weather is insane. Between the snow, the ice, and now this sleet/rain shit thats going on....I've been shoveling driveways and cleaning off roofs day after day.

Monday I had to change my dad's oil in our shop, which unfortunately doesn't have any heat in it. Laying on the dirty shop floor when its 30 degrees out is just old to me now.

More than halfway through the winter now, almost there! lol

pusha 02-02-2011 09:11 PM

Why you people put up with all that shit is beyond me.

If she goes the GMU you can always be a roomie with Braineack and wear a snuggy together.

pusha 02-02-2011 09:20 PM

Fuck that man, the furtherest north I'd ever live is Atlanta and the furthest west would be Austin. I need to be surrounded by hot women or I go insane.

You do realize that Long Beach is both north of Atlanta and west of Austin, do you not?

You do realize that Long Beach is in California, do you not? I hate California. There's a reason why I can't live west of Texas. Even Nevada is too close to California Hell for me.

I require your sister's spicy cracker recipe.

chicksdigmiatas 02-02-2011 11:27 PM

No ice here in SA. But it is colder than nuts. Wind chill 14 now, was 7 last night. It is hilarious to watch the Mexicans bundled up like eskimos though.

Pitlab77 02-03-2011 01:00 AM

Freaking cold. Was in the teens with wind chill last night. I'm hoping they cancel school on friday so I can get a day off from work. Hehe a snow day in Houston:laugh::bowrofl: I already have ideas of what i can do in the supposed 2" of snow :giggle:

flier129 02-03-2011 07:47 AM

It's 40 something here in east TN. Even warmer here in the valley.

We got hit by ice about 6 weeks ago. It sucked ass.

chokeasphyxia 02-03-2011 08:31 AM

75 degrees yesterday, 66 right now.

rharris19 02-03-2011 08:38 AM

yeah and now it's 25°F out. :vash:

Efini~FC3S 02-03-2011 09:40 AM

If I had a pair of ice skates I could skate on my back yard. A few inches of snow covered in a solid couple inches of ice. Had work off yesterday though so all this crap is totally worth it.

Preluding 02-03-2011 12:06 PM

I can't believe this is even a complaint... sounds like my weather for a good bit of the year...

I went out this morning at 7...started snowblower and was done snowblowing the driveway at 7:45, parked snowblower in garage and notice the blower is longer then my miata is wide.... Got in my crv with studded winter tires and easily drove to work by 8am, I didn't even pass one wrecked or stuck vehicle.

Its a balmy -7 out today... it hit -35 last week so this is awesome weather!

I don't think I've ever been iced in... I want to see pics of this

I havent been able to open the drivers door to my MINI in 2 days :(

Damn, it's at least fifteen degrees colder up here in Crystal River (1.5 hours north of Tampa and 3 hours north of you.) I can't wait to get back to Tampa where it isn't a chilly 69 degrees. I should have worn long sleeves today.

Scrappy Jack 02-03-2011 03:09 PM

I had to turn the AC on last night? Does that count?

Oh, well excuse me for not being well-versed on faggy cars.

Stein 02-03-2011 03:33 PM

We have had exactly two days out of the last 25 that were above freezing for a high. The last two were -30 windchill, -4 actual temp. It sucks.

That said, I need to update my worklog. Been in the shop every night since Friday. I keep that around 70. (Essentially) free wood heat FTW.

pusha 02-03-2011 03:37 PM

This is stupid. Last night it got to 16 degrees in Tucson and most of the water lines around town froze and burst this morning..... Fail much?

ThatGuy85 02-03-2011 04:15 PM

I had to blast the edges of my truck's door with a heat gun for 20 minutes before I could even open it. There's still a solid coating of ice on all the non-major roads up here..

BTW no work for me tomorrow :loser:

it was probably renamed "climate change" because people dont understand that single events (snow storms) dont have that big an impact on average global temperature.

similarly, people who go out and proclaim global warming is the cause of hot days in summer are just as mistaken.

NA6C-Guy 02-03-2011 08:07 PM

It's not bad here at all, but I'm still told to not come in to work tonight, so ROCK!!! Low tonight is only in the upper 20's, and we can expect a half inch of snow by tomorrow, with more chances through Saturday.

messiahx 02-03-2011 11:30 PM

Lulz when the rest of America gets snowed on. Of course, now that I'm in FL and not in WI, I don't miss it one fucking bit. No time soon will I go out to start the miata and find it covered in 2" of ice. Last winter I spent in WI we had a couple weeks where it was -20Fish in the morning and barely broke 5F during the day. I left about 10 sq in of airflow in the mouth of the miata so it'd stay warm on the highway. Cardboard ftw.

Splitime 02-03-2011 11:41 PM

I happily contribute to global warming.

Pitlab77 02-04-2011 05:13 AM

40% chance of snow my @ss.

Snow in Houston=fail

Weather forcast has changed :(

oh well day off from work still

trickyrix 02-04-2011 08:08 AM

We were supposed to have 1-2" of snow south and east of DFW... well, somebody needs to explain the 5 inches of fresh powder in my yard. And there's more coming.

inferno94 02-04-2011 08:30 AM

~-10F today, 3-4' of rock hard snow on my lawn and the plow leaves 4' of snow to the curb. My snow blower was choking on the ice chunks while clearing some road parking.

All in all though not bad the last major snow my 5'6" aunt in London, ON was shorter than the snow on her lawn that fell in 2 days. There was a total of 7' there after 3 days, the sissies shut things down for a day.
