How (and why) to Ramble on your goat sideways
Anybody have any experience with engine simulation software (preferably one that isn't geared to ancient cast iron v8s with carbs) that is reasonably priced? Dynomation5 looks promising but I don't think I can justify $500 to my university just for one project.
I've played a bit with this game on steam, fun to simulate motor builds.
How extensive and accurate is it? Part of my dissertation is comparing engine mapping on an engine dyno compared to the results gathered from engine simulation software. That reminds me that I need to sort out a miata lump for testing and bring my MS3X over here.
GT Power or Ricardo are your best options, as they are both extensive and as accurate as the data you input. Ricardo is definitely less user friendly, but works. Those are the main two I know of that engineers normally use. My FSAE team got both of them for free, not sure if they would do the same for a college dissertation.
Finally tore down the 1.8 from my v8 project. traded a set of crappy tuner wheels for this auto miata that "just stopped running on the interstate". lol I was in the market for a new boat anchor.
