@hi_im_sean, you want OEM Samsungs? Like, the white ones they ship with new phones?

Literally these things?

I must say I was more impressed with those Samsungs than I thought I would be, but I still prefer, well... almost any other headphones.

They're $7. I seem to destroy a set every 2-3months. Sound is acceptable, and they last longer than most others ive tried except the cloth braided deals. But no, they're not sennheiser monitors.

Definitely the HBS-800 is better than anything else I've heard under 200 bucks.
Trip how functional would these be with the top down, in terms of noise cancellation?

I have to wear earplugs in the miata, the tire noise from other vehicles on the freeway is overwhelming. If the cancellation on these is pretty good they might do the trick.

Ah hell I'm just going to try them

There's nothing like a fresh barber shave...

The place I go to is run by three guys about our age. Tattooed, heavily bearded, foul-mouthed, there's a strongly positive vibe in the place.

Normally there's prog rock playing on the radio. Everything from Pink Floyd to Ozric Tentacles to The Dead.

Today, I walked in to hear 80s bubblegum pop. And not the hits, either. They were playing B-sides. It was a topic of conversation as we were all shamefully tapping our feet to the music.

"What the hell is this, anyway?"

"John (the owner) was sober this morning. This is the real John."

"This ****'s just too weird."

John stops what he's doing, stares like Christopher Walken, and says deadpan in a tone of mock severity: "The Cubs are in the ******* world series. Nothing is too weird, not any more."

I've never laughed until I cried while getting a haircut before.

A bit late
I use these. AKG K323XSi review | What Hi-Fi?

Love the sound, and they've survived 5 trips through the washing machine without a trouble

Honestly i've never worn them in my car especially with the top down. I'll see how bad it is monday and try it and let you know.

I only wear them at the gym and the noise cancelation is good enough to block out just about all of the background noise and muffle the clunks of the weight pretty good. Like you wont be able to hear it with the music on but you will hear it if you mute your music.

'Struth. I haven't had one in many years - all the locals in CT claim it's because of Health Dept regulations, but this one old guy named Tony (immigrant from Italy, proud) would still do it until Parkinson's had him shaking like a crack baby. Steamed hot towels, hot lather, warm after-shave moisturizer. I used to walk out of his shop feeling practically aerodynamic. Every man should experience it.

On the Cubs - it seems that the guy with the goat was ejected because his goat was too smelly.
Does that mean that in 1945 there was a livestock admission policy at Wrigley Field?

Bear in mind that it was considered a huge deal when Wrigley got electric light bulbs installed.

In 1988.

Nothing in this town makes sense.

Actual first sentence of an email I wrote recently:
FYI to all EICs- see below concerning the setup of the BM app on the QC station at the back of PCR. (Is that enough acronyms in one sentence?)

GF leaves raw chicken uncovered in fridge, I point out I'm fairly passionate about not getting food poisoning or dying. I'm the ******* here apparently

Acronyms are initialisms of groups of words. Abbreviations are the shortened form of a single word. FYI, EIC, BM, QC and PCR are acronyms, not abbreviations. App is an abbreviation (short for "application"), but that was the only abbreviation in the sentence, and thus didn't justify calling attention to it.

Was the chicken in the fridge for more than 48 hours, or at a temperature above 40°F?

I think most chickens exist in that state for a decent amount of their lifespans.

No, actually, I stand corrected. Even the OED entry now accepts acronym as both a pronounced word or a series of pronounced letters.

My preference is that acronym be reserved for those pronounced as a word, but as there's no consensus, it's only a preference.
