I just find myself constantly thinking the question "what am I doing?"...not in a literal sense, but over-all; I don't know what I'm doing....but it really comes down to money...working a crap job and long hours, the condition of my car (which might sound superficial, but it has ALWAYS been the one thing that brings me happiness and relaxation when I'm stressed), living by myself- I don't have cable or internet access...which only drives me away from spending much time there...so I usually end up at the bar a block away for a couple of hours every night just to have a social life and internet access. Once again, money being the root of why I don't have such amenities at home. Speaking of, I'm mostly working just to pay my rent and have just enough to go out to drink (not that I am getting drunk...2-3 beers over 2-3 hours). When I moved into my place, I had a different job and was making significantly more money and was much less stressed. But that changed when I got laid-off and took a job in manufacturing because I NEEDED income ASAP. Now I work Wed-Sat 12 hours a day for much less money...and have no idea how to change my situation. I can't see two feet in front of me right now.
Is selling the car to get some cash and buying a cheap beater for the mean time likely to help the cash flow situation? I know it sucks, but my best friend is going through this now. He got divorced (he filed for it because she was a cheating whore), but the house hasn't sold, business is down (so his bonuses are as well) and his credit has taken a massive dive thanks to the debt he had to take on when the marriage was over. He's to the point of starting to consider bankruptcy. |
This is why you dont move to CO.

Is it bad that I have been reading stories about what crisis hotline operators deal with so I know what to expect to hear when I call? Shit has been bringing me down lately and I'm really starting to scare myself. I'm generally not one to just post shit for some kind of 'ego-stroking' but I'm starting to question my sanity lately....something about walking off into the woods, in the cold, with enough sedatives to slip into hypothermia without feeling it....
Anyway, I DIDN'T, so that's happy. I was driving a gray CX-5. Anyway, sorry to hear about your situation bro. That really sucks. Great thing about when things suck though, is they can only get better. |
28.5L engine. Awesome sound. Who says the Italians don't build great cars...

A Miata.netter showed up on CR and is asking about running a fucking SPICA setup in conjunction with a stock ECU on his 1.6 car.
You cannot be serious. |
so I am at a training and simulation conference this week. I have worn several head mounted virtual reality displays intended for the consumer or prosumer market. Oculus Rift is the obvious choice for under $1500. Everything else is amateur tinker toy.
Meanwhile, tradeshows with free beer are pretty much the best kind of tradeshow. |
Oculus Rift still in Development mode?
News on a consumer version? |
I find out Friday if buddy and i are getting new shop space closer to home. This could be much win. I will build ALL THE THINGS.

Or you think you almost hit me...if I pulled out in front of you, I knew I had enough time lol. Sat night I left work (Brookwood & Airport Dr), went home and walked across to the bar. Quit stalking me. |

How much do those few beers and a tip cost you every night? $10? $15? 20 times a month that adds up.

I'm exaggerating, I was fairly close to you but there was no near-miss or anything. No stalker. But I work in Hillsboro and live in Beaverton ;) |
Floor in the front room has been getting a refurb. New boards to replace some stained ones (due to previous cat with kidney problems), sanded and now urethane finish. House stinks so bad my wife can hardly stand it, and we've got windows open with it 35 degrees out. I am starting to get a headache from the fumes.

Spend the night in a cheap motel; with your wife:2cents: That urethane will give you all a massive headache (or rot your liver) if you try and live there while it's drying, which by the way won't be any time soon at just 35*. OH, and don't forget to take the kitties with you. |
Too late, it's already mostly dried. Quick drying formula. Now it just has a faintly plastic odor. If it ends up looking half as good as the stairs, it will be a big improvement.
