Got roped into it this year. Son wanted to join, but had not been in any of the previous (Lego) teams. He was given special dispensation based on the fact that he's an honor student, and the wife volunteered (engineering notebook). She called me at the behest of the guy that runs it, who begged me to mentor. I did, provided I did no fund raising or community relations stuff. It has been both fun and hair-pulling frustrating, and takes up a huge chunk of time, three nights a week.

Biggest challenge is working with old equipment and parts on a shoestring budget. We need to get some corporate sponsors.

We have some really bright kids, who just need some instruction. Not a single one of my team members had ever used any kind of saw or file before! Now, I can let them cut and deburr a part all by themselves.

Is it possible to purchase a front wheel seal or am I stuck replacing the entire hub?

Godless Commie 01-17-2018 08:29 AM

It is official.
I am flying to Africa, specifically Niger, to shoot a new TV show.
We shook hands today.
Current show will go on, this is different.

I will do whatever I can so these commitments do not hinder my compound turbo project.

Awesome!

I was really curious about this when we spoke last week.

Also, I haven't been ignoring your note about the compound turbo thread, I'm just trying to figure out something useful to say that won't result in your engine blowing up or me sounding like an idiot. This is unexplored territory.

@aidandj was trying to get P/N's for the seals. I don't know if he ever succeeded.

I, too, would like to know.

Never found em. Pretty sure I'm running seal-less on one hub. #yolo

Never have I ever disliked a scissor lift so much in my life except for today... you are my beeping enemy.

JLG or Genie?

Redneck it up, lol. If it wouldn't get grease on the brakes on the inside I'd consider drilling and tapping the dust cap for a zerk fitting and repack front wheel bearings with a squirt or two every event, lol. But I have used bearing buddies on both my trailers and I can tell you what the inside of the wheel looks like. Lots of grease splatter.

More nonsensical musings from sixshooter...

Looks like a beat up JLG.

Side note, anyone able to recommend a nice gigabit router with wireless? Wireless speed can be w/e as I only have my phone on it with ssid turned off.

I plan on switching up my spectrum plan to their new gig internet and will be using ethernet over AC adapters to go out to the living room.

I bought this yesterday.
Its the tmobile version of the RT-AC68U. You can flash older firmware on it and get rid of the T-mobile stuff, which is what i plan to do. Good review, cheap.

I have an earlier version, model AC1800 or something. Never any problems, never a hiccup. Just buy it.

Anyone here doing indoor hydroponic herb gardening?

TurboTim 01-18-2018 05:50 AM

No but I asked/received a kit for Christmas 2016 and it all is still in the boxes.

Joe Perez 01-18-2018 08:50 AM

I've been looking for a website which basically contains a complete introductory guide. Finding a lot of places selling little tabletop kits, but the DIY-centric sites seem to all presuppose that you know what you're doing already. It's like the botanical equivalent of the MegaSquirt page.

You can stack on a metal rack shelf. Plants up top, fish tank below :bigtu:

Example:

This guy's channel is pretty interesting. I enjoy his mining videos when he uses explosives :likecat:

Searched a ton, could not find a clear answer...

What would you use?

35A-AAA-DDBA-1BA (MAC solenoid)
or
Diyautotune EBC solenoid

...or, something I have failed to discover so far?

concealer404 01-18-2018 07:47 PM

The DIY is a MAC, as far as i know.
