Well, it is fairly serious, but it is still a royal pain in the ass. Like before, I dread the drive up and back more than the actual procedure.

As to the stop leak, there oughta be something like that. Drink a bottle, and you're good to go. One of you doctor types should get working on it.

One of the few careers you can still Practice at.... Good luck.

well, they've already invented the inverse (moviprep), so it should be doable.

Well, shit.

Guess who discovered (accidentally) and then breathed in a bunch of what has now been found to be asbestos?

Seriously? I don't know why you aren't wearing a respirator from the moment you enter that building.

My parents' next door neighbor died of mesothelioma from asbestos in navy ships and constructing industrial fertilizer production facilities. Not so cool.

This is the main studio, not Hancock.

Hopefully not a big deal. Found two old pipes in the ceiling which had apparently shed some stuff onto the top of the ceiling tiles below them, and lain undistributed for decades.

I'll just smoke fewer of the 50s vintage Kent cigarettes which I've been stockpiling.

The big bummer is that now I have to wait for the guys in the bunny-suits.

Not going to go with the "I now own WGN" option?

Joe Perez 07-02-2018 08:56 PM

Nah, that'd be a dick move. Wheaton's Law applies here.

czubaka 07-02-2018 08:58 PM

I can appreciate that. Besides, it sounds like it would be a PITA to run a station. And you'd just transfer ownership once somebody else moves the next asbestos-covered ceiling tile.

Joe Perez 07-02-2018 09:04 PM

Haha.

I honestly think we're getting towards the end of the fluffy stuff. There's still a lot of asbestos in floor tiles and some of the rigid wall-panels on the second floor, but everyone knows not to drill into that stuff. It's really just the insulation on the pipes that scares me. We've dealt with the vast majority of it, nobody remembered that specific section was there, as it's had a bunch of racks under it for the past 30 years. Quoting myself when I shone the light up there from atom the ladder while one of my employees was down below:

"Well, fuck."

Besides, as the chief engineer, I'm technically the responsible party. It'd be hard to sue myself.

Not that autolitigation is without precedent, mind you. Two of my favorites:

Also, a warning about statistics: the average person has one testicle and one ovary.

I always liked this one:

The average human has fewer than two arms.

Joe Perez 07-02-2018 11:20 PM

Man, it's amazing how quickly you have the attention of the VP and the GM when you utter the phrase "several chunks of material resembling asbestos fell onto my head as we removed one of the tiles" in a text message.

This is one of those all-too-frequent situations where I find myself censoring what I write with the knowledge that emails are easily subpoenaed. (I'm assuming that drawing a line between "Joe Perez, the engineering boss at WGN" and "Joe Perez, the tyrant who rules some random sissy-car forum with an iron hand, yet always has a stupid Pony meme at the ready" will be a difficult task, especially given that "Jose Perez" is basically "John Smith" in Spanish.)

If you're trying to one up me in the health issues department, you win.

Joe Perez 07-03-2018 05:33 PM

Haha, I don't think I've caught up quite yet.

My brother has an orange NB and recently moved to Alexandria, VA from Hawaii. It's running rough and he's asking for a recommendation for someone to look at it for him. He's constantly deploying or going on TDY with the military and can't spend time on the car because of baby at home and another on the way so home time is family time or more pressing issues.

Please let me know.

Edit: stock ecu and engine

Joe Perez 07-04-2018 05:16 PM

She'll enjoy Tricare.

He's fucked.

Braineack 07-04-2018 06:30 PM

There's a bunch of us near Alexandria. If you want a specific shop. Lmk.

A specific shop recommendation would be great, please.
