We dealt with a lot of that sort of thing towards the end of the Harris era at PR&E. Corporate IS was at the Melbourne FL location, where they mostly dealt with classified military stuff, and so corporate IS policy reflected that mindset.

It got so bad that we eventually could not install any software which had not been vetted and approved by corporate. (I don't mean it wasn't allowed, I mean it was physically impossible due to whatever background supervisor was installed on the machines which I can't remember. Norton something, I think.) Which was a problem since, you know, we CREATED NEW SOFTWARE ALL DAY LONG and occasionally needed to install our own builds for testing.

As a result, I wiped about half the machines in the lab and installed a pirated copy of Win XP on them. Security forced me to do the least secure thing imaginable in order to actually do our jobs.

Amusingly, they never found out. Or if they did, they never busted us for it.

I haven't restricted google's infestation of my phone, but I'm not seeing the same sort of results you describe being horrified of. In fact, I'll show you an exact screen shot of my voice and audio activity which I have never deleted. It is expressly only things I've asked google to listen to and not even all of my voice searches (which I guess is somewhere else). This doesn't seem like much to be concerned over unless you're really anti-Miley.

I am, in fact, quite anti-Miley.

I have no idea how Google selects what audio they're going to capture. Much of it was obvious "OK Google" stuff, but a lot of it wasn't. It was far from a complete transcript of everything I've ever said while in proximity to the phone, more like 1-2 seemingly random sentences per week, with no obvious correlation.

Also, pet peeve: websites which, when taking shipping info, require you enter both your state, and your city, AND your zip code. Entering just the ZIP code alone would suffice.

What was it that was that tag line in that Netflix show Ozark....?

How much does it cost to completely disappear?

Likely some of it was the result of the on-phone voice decoder (which can't be as accurate as the back end due to resource requirements) erroneously concluding that you'd said "OK google".

Well, that's not great. On top of coeliac disease, my wife got an intestine cancer. She got 7 inch of intestine removed 1 month ago and we just had the chemical treatment explained to us. She's beggining a 6 month treatment which has 85% chances of sucess. She is full positive about it, but that was a harsh day. At 32yo, that's statistically a bit young.

Thanks for reading! That's what I needed!

Yikes! I don't believe I've ever even heard of intestinal cancer.

Probably should eliminate plutonium from the diet as well as gluten.

That's a nice advice, I will make sure not to buy any!

The stats begin at 70yo, so unless you have a lot of friends near that age, there is not a lot of occasions to speak about cancer.

My sister, who is 37, has similar stories. She had a double lung transplant about 10 years ago, and so has been on heavy anti-rejection meds since then. The meds kinda beat up on the kidneys, so now she's starting to have kidney failure and spends a lot of time at the nephrologist, where she is again the youngest person in the room by several decades.

Does Mazda sell a complete manual transmission for the Miata?

I am trying to find either a part number for a complete 6 speed, or the VIN or chassis number for a EUDM MX5.

I figured my best bet would be to buy a new transmission from Mazda, rather than dealing with unknown parts, shipping, very high customs fees and all the hassle.

For the record, a 3.63 R&P set plus crush collar, etc is available, and I can get a good price on them for one set.

TIL that some (all?) modern Porsches have macpherson struts on all 4 corners.

I guess I know the answer why, but seriously... why? They make all these niche sportscars, seemingly uncompromising and in defiance of the common cars of today. Why are they going to design them around an inferior design?

It must just be one of those "good enough" things. Give the cars super stiff springs and theyre still fast on a smooth track.
But ******* hell. An '89 Mazda has a better camber curve than a 2020 Porsche 911...

One of the most lauded cars for handling the last decade also has struts at all 4 corners. The Twins.

In case this may be of any assistance:

She speaks too quickly and covers a lot of material, but there is some promising research out there.

Thats a multilink rear though. I know the front is MP strut, but the rear isnt. Plus thats a very inexpensive car.
Were talking Porsche 911 money and getting VW golf suspension.
