Work from home Friday tomorrow, no hot nurse for me.

Possible blue haired vixen for the weekend, sadly she is no hot nurse.
|
when I got bit by a dog in the woods, a hot nurse shot about a quart of immunoglobulin into the side of my leg.
|
I had it put in the back of my hand. Man, that stuff is like liquid fire going in.
|
For anyone pissed off about the PhotoFuckit ransom issues lately, apparently there is a workaround which reported works (for now). Here's a link: http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/aust...ket-issue.html
Full disclosure: I have NOT tried it. |
If you think about it, knocking is just punching someone's door until they decide to talk to you.
|
I am seriously considering putting in my 2 weeks notice sometime soon and jumping into MKTurbo full time. The thought of it scares the shit out of me, but being my own boss sounds so appealing.

What do you envision this business being 5yrs from now? Gross $$? Margins? Maybe there's an easier business to become "the boss" in. What's your income target? |

That's what I was thinking too. It seems to me that expansion into NC, ND, and perhaps even other makes would become necessary to maintain volume over any longer term. The R&D would be costly.
I do have longer term plans for moving to the NC and ND. Not sure any sort of ETA for those, but I am thinking about it. I also have some other things I am working on to bring better products to the market with MKTurbo. |
Does it generate enough cash to pay for your own insurance and retirement savings?

Really on that I am planning on maxing out an IRA and then putting other money into savings. |
Betterment is performing better than the expensive real person(s) at morgan stanley, even before considering the fees.

Auto Insurance: Who do you use?
Since I've taken the MSM off and added on my 14' FRS, it seems it has more than doubled. (State Farm :burncash: ) I did a quote from Geico today and was surprised for the same coverage I would be around $150/mo :eek3: Thoughts? |
I've been very happy with Geico, particularly through my two accident claims. Yeah their offer was lower than I'd hoped but still fair, and any insurance company would have done something similar. Very good service, 24 hour service...
|
I had progressive for years with no complaints.
I switched to State farm because they gave me a huge home insurance discount, but I miss progressive's service. |
I use USAA, have been on it since I got my permit when I was 15. I pay something like $230-$250 a month for insurance. I have 5 vehicles on it though. I could be down to about $75-$90 if I wanted to drop all the miata's.
|
Thanks for the replies. I'm wondering if talking with State Farm would change anything. I really wouldn't mind staying with them as they have helped out tremendously in the past. And the office I use knows of my grandmother running her own building back in the day (small town).
|
Comparing insurance costs doesn't really get you anywhere. Rates vary drastically by location, age, credit score, cars insured, etc.
I pay about $140/mo for 4 vehicles (3 with "full" coverage, low/no deductibles, etc), 2 drivers, including renter's insurance. I wouldn't know if that's even possible anywhere in your state. :P |

Nope. The agents have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the rates you are charged. That's all down to the underwriters. Insurance on the Twins is stupid expensive. |

Unless you have coverage above the state legal minimums and they lower it to the state legal minimums. There isn't anything they can do.
|
Agents can't set your rates, but they can sometimes find discounts that aren't obvious. If you're just a single guy with a car policy and nothing else then the discounts are limited, but if you're married and have 8 or 9 policies with the same company (multiple cars, homeowner's, umbrella, life, personal articles, etc) then there are multiple ways to set them up, some of which are cheaper than the others.
Also, +1 what Concealer said. Insurance is one of the most heavily regulated businesses out there, and every state does it differently. Even within a state there are so many variances between people that the rate your friend pays with company X has almost no relation to what you would pay. --Ian |
Well after losing my shit all day, it's finally done. The appraisal on the house came back lower than the contract price, seller has been out of town and slow to respond but we were finally able to come to an agreement to split the difference on the appraisal and contract.
No way, was I about to let a couple thousand prevent that from happening, and thankfully they felt the same on their end. If the deal fell through, I would have to cancel all the utlity stuff I set up, cancel the movers, and still have to be out of my apt in 3 weeks since they pre-leased it so I wouldn't have to pay the fee to break the lease. |
Closed yesterday, mostly moved in. Tons of unpacking still to do. Tons of things to buy (blinds, dining room table, etc)
And of course the washer/dryer/fridge were delivered today, and stupid me bought a fridge slightly too large for the opening. It fits, but the left door of the french door fridge won't quite open. Thankfully Lowe's is cool about it. They said to just use it, go pick another one and they will swap it out, no big deal. |

Get some 2x4s. Cut into 1ft lengths. Stack them and put jack stands on top. You can get the car really high this way.

I guess the only good thing is that everything is separated already. If my shell gets toasted then I'll just have to find another. Maybe a nice NB2 shell for my 1.6 stuff. I'll see if my roommate can film me bear-hugging my block up the staircase. |
Hope it turns north when it hits the east coast of cuba.

I feel oddly / selfishly grateful that this hurricane probably isn't going to fuck up my place this coming week. Don't really know what to say here... |

Two weeks ago, I went to NAS Key West for work travel for a day and a half. From Key West, I flew directly to Texas. I was glad to leave Texas when I did, because there was a big storm rolling through and 12 hours later the flights might all be cancelled...
Maybe I'm just bad luck? To be fair, I was in El Paso, perhaps the most..."pacific" corner of Texas |

I think this will be hurricane nine for me. Just happening to come at the most inconvenient time. This one might actually take my car. Subframes and body are being painted so I can't move it right now. The only plan is to keep raising it until my stands can't be raised anymore. Everything is insured but, god damn, you can't put a price on memories. Fuck I don't want to have to find a new place to live if my house gets trashed.

Each vertical stack of logic modules in the Cray-2 supercomputer sat atop a power supply which delivered 5 volts at 2,200 amps.
The total power consumption of a fully-configured system was between 150–200 kW. When running at full power, it was found that, to a limited extent, the perfluorinated polyether used to cool the machine would break down to form the extremely toxic gas perfluoroisobutylene. http://www.craysupercomputers.com/do...rochure001.pdf http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/w...tion_Jun89.pdf |

That is interesting. Most aerospace stuff is also 400Hz.

My wife just came in to inform me that she backed the Expy into the Miata. I was calm. I will go and see it now.
EDIT: Seems to be mostly a deformed bumper cover, and a very slight dimple in the hood. Nothing is cracked on either headlight. |

Trying to get my nb2 thru emissions. We are a plug in state and if all is well and no cels and the obd2 diagnostic tests are complete, you pass. I have 3 tests that haven't completed yet. Oxygen sensor monitor, catalyst monitor and egr system. It has been months and many miles of varying conditions and no go. Any advice?
