HP touchpads on fire sale tomorrow for $99
HP is discontinuing the touchpad and will be selling off all they have tomorrow for $99. I am unsure if they will be on sale at best buy, but I know futureshop in canada has already started to sell them for $99. I have no idea what time it will start tomorrow, but I will be getting on if I can get through to order one.

damn thats cheap. Best buy has them sold out, but the price is $399.
|
What are these good for?
|
HP abandoned WebOS, so there is going to be no future support for the touchpad. No updates, no apps, etc. No developers are going to create anything for it since it is now dead in the water.
Just a heads up. |
can be loaded with android?
|
They were/are one of Android's competitors, I'd imagine it'd be as easy as loading Android on to an iPad.

Might just be wishful thinking: http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/...re-out-a-plan/
I bought the original Pre and I still love it. Palm supported the homebrew developers and the OS has so much potential. I hate that HP destroyed it. It's like politics - just because someone is more popular, doesn't mean they're the best choice. |
If anyone finds an online retailer that still sells them let me know, I want one ASAP.
|
+1. Even If the whole app ecosystem for this thing is in the toilet, it should still be a great web surfing, reading ebooks, etc... And hardware hacking, of course
|
I wouldn't doubt a developer would port android to it.
|
I only want it to view PDFs and notes while I work on cars. I'm not paying $199-$499 to do that.
|
Anywhere got any left? Office Depot, wal-mart, futureshop, best buy, they're all sold out. Trying to pick one or two up if I can.

Thanks for the tip; I got one this morning at walmart on my way in to work.
Seems pretty cool in general, but has a fatal flaw. I can not access web forums on it. I've been googling the problem and not having much luck. Various other sites work fine. Web forums give me an unable to load message. A minor annoyance was it didn't like my wifi password, so I had to change it on my access point. Once I changed my password, it connected fine. Just annoying to have to reconfigure all the other wifi devices because of it. |

Oh my god Ben, that sounds terrible. Hey, if you are looking to dump it, I'm willing to buy it for the same price $99 price you got it... :)
|
It was $149 (32GB).
So far it won't load web forums... and the help application fails to launch. "Failed to load the requested page". What kind of crap is that. |
My offers still stands...$149 is fine with me. You know you want to get an iPad.
|
manually setting the dns servers seems to have fixed it. Typing this reply from the touchpad. Bring on the spelling errors.
