I got the dumbest ordinance violation ever today

305.20(5) - No exhaust tip past body line

WTF

Add that to the three other ordinance violations I received on the Miata today (defective muffler, front license plate, rear tires). Has anyone seriously heard of this before? I looked it up and the muffler Nazi didn't make it up, but I have never ever ever heard of anyone getting a ticket for it, honestly its kind of ridiculous.

Also found out that using flex piping is not street legal either, not that I have any though. I am going to cobble together the most hideous exhaust ever, tips sticking up four feet in the air Uber JDM stYle for inspection in 14 days. Hey, it will be legal according to the book!

WTF!!!!?

never heard of that, sounds so stupid...wow

ApexOnYou 07-15-2008 02:11 AM

I got this Sheriff in trouble three years ago with his superior (Who is a good friend of the family) due to his conduct and attitude, well she is now retired so I am kinda up shits creek when it comes to this guy. I have no clue how he remembered considering I didn't even remember him, must have figured it out through my background check. His last words to me today were something along the lines of "..but she isn't a sheriff anymore, now is she?"

Prick.

18psi 07-15-2008 02:20 AM

man thats fucked... and here I thought it was GOOD when your muffler doesnt stick out a mile from under ur car......

well Im pretty sure this kinda bs wouldnt happen if you weren't on the "hate" list lol...if they wanna get u, there are so many stupid ass laws for them to choose from its almost too easy. thankfully most of the time they have better shit to do though lol

ApexOnYou 07-15-2008 02:32 AM

Funny thing is, when he pulled me over 3 years ago, it was in the Miata for no muffler. LOL. Full exhaust has come and past since then. I was real quiet for at least half of that time.

I don't think I am necessarily on the "hate" list, this dude is just a ordinance freak. Also one of those cops who obviously went into the field for the power, the type who you figure was bullied as a younger child or something like that.

magnamx-5 07-15-2008 04:19 AM

well if the muffler is not muffling adequatly the sound then yes int he eyes of the law it is defective. Might i sugest strangling him with a bike lock and then disolving the body with hydrofluoric acid Like in breacking bad lol

Wow, you're fucked... I'd consider moving. Although, statements like that can get his ass in some trouble too. You might check with your retired friend, she may still have some juice to ruin his day with.

Fixed.

You don't make sheriff without having established relationships with the local courthouse.

levnubhin 07-15-2008 10:46 AM

Dude thats so BS. Look around there are so many cars on the road with oem exhaust that are hardly even visible let alone past the body line.

why the hell is a flex section illegal?

ApexOnYou 07-15-2008 11:23 AM

No clue why flex pipe is illegal. For clarification, its the flex pipe you buy from AutoZone, not the flex pipe that comes after a down pipe. At least I am learning all of these retarded laws now.

Honestly I don't think I am going to complain about him since it can only make this worse, he was kinda threatening to inspect my emissions controls (or lack thereof), although I don't think he can without having probable cause since he has to search inside my car. Nothing on the outside suspects that my emission controls are gone except loud exhaust. Still, that could really ruin my day.

Sometime during the hour long stop, I explained that I had my bald azenis on for the track last week (trying to get out of that ticket), and he was like "oh what do you run?", and stupid me not thinking said "12s". I'm thinking FUCK why did you say that, he is going to search me more now.. He says "Oh, well I KNOW that you cannot do that to this car and stay emissions legal, but I am not going to go look right now". I argued "Uh, you would be suprised. Actually you can." He argues back "No, you cant", we went back and forth maybe three more times before I just shut my mouth. What a dumb fuck, yea taking off those emission controls netted me like 150hp :jerkit:

+1. Sometimes you need to lose the battle to win the war.

Good luck with this guy

Saml01 07-15-2008 03:54 PM

Thats messed up, I bet that cop takes it up the tail pipe.

messiahx 07-15-2008 04:12 PM

Just curious, where did you get nailed? I'm assuming around Milwaukee/Waukesha county, right? And how the hell can they nail you for tires? Were you on the belts or something? Around Appleton/Green Bay where I live I've never heard of emissions being an issue or cops being THAT ridiculous (although I do have a ticket for 'spinning in a parking lot' and was threatened with being arrested for doing so).
