Default I got sent home for swine flu quarantine.

I went to Mexico for my vacation. So I come back to work on Monday spoke to all my friends blah blah you know the drill. Apparently someone got sick at Earnest & Young in the city, I dont work for Earnst & Young but basically that lit a fuse and all the various companies in the city are now **** scared. My companies business continuity department basically said "if you recently went to mexico you are now on 5 days quarantine". Someone spilled the beans and they found out I was there. I get a call to go home for 5 days.

How bout them apples, 5 more days of paid vacation and I dont even have to use my days.

Too late for action but not too late to cover their ***. That way they can say they acted as soon as practical. No widows can win a lawsuit if someone would die.

I work with border jumpers every day. This swine flu thing does not bother me at all. But it is the governments latest thing to draw attention away from administration.

I shall be sitting in my Miata with tin foil hat, and watching for black helicopters

Sounds SWEET MAN!

I think they are going a little overboard with this thing.

If it was like the BIRD FLEW in 1918. Where you where fine, kissed your wife good bye for work, and 3 hrs later DEAD! yea.

I would be scared. But This isn't like that. But I guess if it is worse than the regular flew. Heck yea, shut it down.

The mortality rate from the 1918 influenza was 2.5-5%. Mexico is showing a mortality rate of 6% with this strain. We will not see this high mortality rate in the U.S.A. or in any developed nation, antiviral drugs are to readily available. It is the 3rd world countries with insufficient medical care, and lack of proper drugs that will bear the brunt of this coming pandemic.

Little known fact here:

How many people get sick or die from the flu every year?

Each flu season is unique, but it is estimated that, on average, approximately 5% to 20% of U.S. residents get the flu, and more than 200,000 persons are hospitalized for flu-related complications each year. About 36,000 Americans die on average per year from the complications of flu.

Might be inclined to agree its being thrown out of whack for political reasons..

Let us not forget about the Flu "Epidemic" of 1976..

http://www.capitalcentury.com/1976.html

One man died of the Flu, HUNDREDS more died from the Vaccination the government peddled, hundreds were paralyzed, many left very ill..

Doesn't bother me much, in developed nations like ours there isn't much to worry about, especially if you're never sick, like me. Various illnesses have gone around my classroom 4 times since last August, and I've been fine each time, my classmates are jealous.

um...I don't think there should be widespread panic over the h1n1 yet. However, you should be prepared for inoculation dissemination and a reasonable understanding of the situation as it progresses. Mutation is the threat, and the SNS is mobilized for a reason.

No one will take any threat seriously until it happens. I live this ****, so I have a different perspective.
