I hate my keychain.

I have one house key, the key to my Miata (thin long one) Wifes car (the fat long one) garage opener, Mazda lanyard, Carabiner, Piloti tag, and one of those quick release clip thingies. They always get tangled, and they take up too much space. Id like a Keyport, but the wifes car (CRV) key is a monstrosity. This is already the minimum I would like to carry with me, thats what the quick release thingy is for. Do you guys have any suggestions?

1. Remove all tags/accessories/clips
2. Find nut and bolt that fits through all keys 3. ??? 4. Profit I used to have a set of keys that were all copies and therefore flat and I used to keep them on a bolt cut to size and a nut with some tread lock. They jingle less and open like a Swiss Army knife. Kind of a cheap alternative to that keyport thing. |
I don't like having more than 2 or 3 keys in my ignition. So i have two sets, one on a lanyard with all the bullshit on it, house, garage, work, tool box, beer opener, cars i don't drive a lot, ect. The other with the Miata key, and the GA key with it's keyfob that isn't really that big, and honestly isn't needed at all. Oh, and the small key for the steering wheel lock i have (Detroit). I usually lock the big set of keys i have in the glove box, or keep them in my pocket. This helps stop the wear and tear on the ignition, all that extra weight wears it out fast. Also i can't stand it rattling around and hitting my knees.
This really isn't your problem, I suggest getting a copy of your monster keys made and just deal with opening the door the old fashioned way. (if that's even an option on these newer cars) Hide them big monsters somewhere. Use one ring, and only use one "keychain" a beer bottle opener, the only thing you'll ever need. |

There are several thing that I don't mind - however, I won't carry more than one remote b/c have to make room for tactical ninja tool and 101st coin :)
I love mine! https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1361037334 |

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1361032703 I've got a similar issue (even worse when I had a job): House key, GF's house key, work key, van key, R1 key, TLR key, Superhawk Key, GMC Safari Key, Miata key... And yes, some/many of those have multiple keys. So I have the multi-keychain solution: House key (& in general work key) on each chain, plus key for one vehicle. Doesn't cost much at all, and worst case I could grab two. It sounds ridiculous but works quite well - most of my keys are small but the GF's lexus key is There To Be Noticed. So her house key goes on her car key (and wouldn't have a work key), and generally I can leave the house for a day without issue. Also, look for the little radioactive keychains. They last for 20 or 30 years, and come in many different colors.... So I can find the right key, even in the dark. |

i keep 2 separate key chains for my vehicles, they both have house keys so i dont have to worry about carrying another set of keys. miata ring has the key for the car and house key, ranger ring has trailer keys, toolbox keys. etc...

get copies of your house keys.
put one house key with one car key without all the bullshit. stop being a fucking janitor. |
I like the bolt idea, I might have to try that out. I've got enough fat keys that they don't quite sit flat with a regular key ring.

2x on the janitor.
Get 1 loop, Install the remote with just 1 link (you need some wiggle room or it will break the plastic on the remote) Then install the keys directly on the loop Install a carabiner as well. Get a small one, not the giant ones made for climbing mountains and shit... The carabiner is more of a safety thing. Even when they are in my pocket loop the carabiner around my pocket as a safety in case they fall out. These are not my keys but they would look similar to this but without the usb flash drive and the keychain and my miata key instead of the bike lock key. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1361043937 I see some folks carrying around every key they have year around... the mail box key, the bike lock key, the motorcycle key, the shed key, the garage door key, the basement key, the front door key, the back door key, the car key, the old car key long ago sold, the wifes car key, the neighbors wifes car key.. Imagine you lost that mess, now what? Someone has every key to your house... carry only the keys you need, the rest go in your house. |

I'm a Minimalist. Have electronic keyless door locks at home with a mechanical keypad lock box as a backup so I carry no house key.

Seriously, get rid of all that crap on your keyring! |

I keep car keys separate from the rest of my house/work keys. That way there's no hitting the knee or jingling around when driving.

I specifically dismissed buying cars with separate key fobs. Don't need that junk. My key chain still has a house, mailbox, ninja tool, and car key on it. Jingles way too much in the ignition. Gonna have to do something about that.

For that many standard size house keys, i like the nut and a bolt idea.

I'm curious about the relationship between the number of guns a person owns and the number of keys. |
lets see... I've got 6 rifles, 1 shotgun, 1 pistol = 8 weapons in all
number of keys on chain -5, 1 remote, 1 FM ninja tool, 1 battalion coin = 8 items in all coincidental 1:1 ratio; relevant correlation of keys & items to weapons = NONE (my safe is keypad entry) |

Makes me miss my speed6 all the more as I carried the "key" in my wallet. That was a great system, even when it didn't work. lol |
