nice and simple! 1 car, 1 house, 1 apartment (school) and 1 storage. Easy to keep track of as well!

I'm curious about the relationship between the number of guns a person owns and the number of keys.

They were handing out free gun locks at the range, and said I could take as many as I wanted. I took four. :dunno:

I only carry one set of car keys and the apartment keys at any one time, unless I have a task for the misc. key ring. Always separate, so I don't weigh down the ignition. Also, if I lose my apartment keys there's no identifier on them. If I lose my car keys and someone jacks my car and finds my registration they now don't also have my house keys.

Edit: Also, the Camaro has been stolen once, necessitating the different T-top from door locks, and the brake pedal/steering column locks. Hasn't been stolen again. Yet. Knock on wood.

One key for each of the daily rides, Jeep and '97 Miata. Depending on if the wife takes one. Bike keys are separated to keep them from bouncing around in ignition. I had the female end of the quick disconnecting thing on the bike keys to so I could just swap the house key to the alarm fob. The turbo car is on another ring due to not in use. All very simple. One set for bike rides and the daily set for the cars.

Just a word of advice from your friendly MT.net locksmith. If you have housekeys that have a five digit number on them, you are making it easy on thieves. With that five digit number, I can duplicate your key from code. Matter of fact, good locksmiths and thieves can actually read the cuts.

If you have a house key that still has the numbers stamped on them, take it to the hardware store and get a copy made.

I did this to get keys made for my car, the one I got when I bought the car was trashed, and no one in the area can make a 90 Miata key, it changed in 91. So we pulled the code off the car and made a few perfect keys.

Those are master keys, but there are so many different locks...

Keyring 1.
Miata, House, Work garage, Family member's house
(For about 10 years, Keyring 1 had about a red 5-inch fabric "remove before flight" tag on it, which, probably 6 years ago, the white letters wore off leaving only a thin red piece of cloth. About a week ago I noticed that the cloth tag had vanished from my key chain - it was a disappointing find)

Keyring 2.
Montero fat key, Montero key fob, House, Trailer locks, Hitch lock

Girlfriends keyring.
Mini cooper, 16 different plastic scantags, carabiner and random keychain fob, and 12 other random keys that she probably doesn't know what they belong to.

My keychain: MX6 key, Escort key (recently got a key for the MX6, i usually just used the Escort key on the MX6, worked fine.), apartment key, mail key, garage key, other garage keys (dead bolt and loop lock thing), toolbox key.

8 keys. Bottle opener, carabiner, store rewards cards bullshit.

Blargh. I hate my life.

I think i might need two Keyports. One for cars, and one for not-cars.
