For a dude that just had his face peeled off, you look surprisingly normal!

Good luck, man. I can't even begin to imagine.

His face looks way too normal. Ergo, this was all a grand ruse to conceal his hair transplant surgery.

PS - I described your incident and face-peeling-off surgery with someone recently and we were both horrified and amazed at modern medical science. There were a lot of exclamations of "blech!" involved.

Wow. I expected extensive bruising, discoloration, and swelling...

...from the rough sex I had last night but everything is pretty good. And you don't look too bad after your surgery, either. Good luck on the rest of your recovery.

Glad to see you made it through alright!

Get better, I have questions to ask about Saab ownership when you're not all hopped up on codeine.

Here's hoping you recover fast, and with as little pain as possible.

Ended up staying another night in the hospital as the scalp incision took a while to stop bleeding. The doc added a couple extra stitches this morning to get it under control and I was able to leave around 4 PM. Been home for a few hours now and feeling pretty weird. Face is wide with the swelling, but no more dent over my eye.

You would think they could cut in a straight line!

Actually, looks pretty good. Obviously the swelling will go down over time, but don't be surprised when your whole face turns yellow from the bruising. I hope the anesthetic wasn't too bad for you, I know it hits me like a ton of bricks.

Good luck and speedy recovery! Stay relaxed and let your body work, it knows what to do.

It probably hides the incision/scar better.

Correct, the wavy incision has two purposes -- it hides the scar better, and it also allows for easier realignment of the skin during suturing (or stapling). Nobody wants an off-center scalp.

Heh, exactly. Actually, my dad told me that they used to just do a small triangle at the center of the incision as an indexing mark.

An odd, unexpected unpleasantry: frequent post-surgery hiccups. For the last 36hours I've been carefully avoiding clearing my throat or coughing as this inevitably results in a bought of hiccuping that, while relatively mild in severity, nevertheless jars my head and raises my blood pressure. Moreover, avoiding clearing my throat or coughing is kind of an unpleasant thing in and of itself, as I have a fair amount of blood and mucus draining down my throat that I'd prefer to expectorate rather than swallow.

From about 3 minutes of internet research, I can find no controlled studies on the prevalence of post-operative hiccups, but lots and lots of anecdotal references. The prevailing theory is that it's some kind of reaction to the anesthetic.

Did the knockout drugs cause the nausea? They make me weep like a little girl with a skint knee for hours on end.

Lol, it makes me yell gibberish and profanity at anything that gets near me. I'm so glad video cameras were uncommon in cell phones the last time I had any surgery.

Yeah, I'm assuming the anesthesia was what caused the nausea. Wasn't fun.

Ugh, this upcoming Monday? No chance. Supposed to be limiting my exposure right now to limit the chances for infection since I have a big head incision and a fractured sinus....and then my doc has this weird hangup about taking opiates and drinking at the same time!! Such a lame-o.

I'll probably have to catch you on the next swing through.

I love my battle scars! What I would do to have a gnarly one down the side of my head. One day.....lol

Glad to see you're recovering nicely.
