Default I now live in New Orleans

After 3 months in Virginia Beach learning to fly again, I've finally made the move down to New Orleans and am living in my new home. We got a place in Belle Chasse, LA, which is on the far southeast side of the greater NOLA area. My house backs up to the base fenceline, so I've got about a 5 minute drive to the office.
We've got a decent amount of property for the dog, a separate workshop, long driveway, and I can see my kids school from the back door. The town is a step up from Mayberry, but not by much. The local justice-of-the-peace is my next-door neighbor and several other people who've lived on the street for decades say there was one break-in back in the late-eighties that turned out to be a couple 10yr old kids. Apparently I chose well.

On the downside, I think the movers lost about a dozen boxes... time to take inventory and see how much the Navy owes me.

I'll throw up some pics later today.

So when the NOLA race track actually opens up we all crash at your place when we go right?

Congrats on the new place. Post up some pics.

How far are you from areas that were destroyed by Katrina?
Are houses cheap toward the disaster area, if so, how much approx? Are people buying?
