I spent the day driving sideways
I participated in a novice autocross class today and must admit it was a blast. I've already signed up for another one next week.
Unfortunately we had near a record low temps in 30's to low 40's and the car had no grip with summer tires. I could break the tires loose at half throttle.
On the bright side, I had a few instructors drive the car and they couldn't get much more grip than I could. They did admit to being SC bigots and were very surprised at how quick and smooth the car hit full boost with a turbo.
I think I might need to try a track day by the end of summer.

You think?? you might?!? Stop giving yourself outs! Check out the Brainerd raceway website. The Porsche, BMW, Corvette and BIR all have track days with driver instruction. The club days run $125 to $175 and the BIR instruction school is $265. You will love it! No 50 second autocross runs, you'll be driving flat out for 20 minutes at a time! Autocross = 3 x 50 second runs vs. 4 or 5 runs at 20 minutes each.
You might also look for any NASA or SCCA clubs that offer driver education days. Autocross is fun and great training. Road course is a whole different level though. Well worth it.
