uhhh the 2.5L in the e30 takes well to boost as in you get a crap ton of power out of not much boost but yeah get ready to blow your motor. Those e30 m3's are like 10.5-11:1 compression stock. Also boosting any BMW is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ like none other. If you want mad power go e36 with a twin-screw cept plan to spend like 10k on the car and 7k on the set-up. If i could get another I'd nab a Evo or a 2nd Gen Rx-7 or a e36 m3 with some suspension work.

ugh, you might as well buy an 04 GTO for 16k and supercharge or turbo it.

why is boosting an e30 pricey? i would think a standard turbo setup and megasquirt would do the trick. seems like it would still be around the standard 1500$ mark

I sold my '92 Turbo'd Miata over the summer. Bought a '89 Turbo Targa Supra. I thought that I wanted something different and faster. Something that I could get 500hp from. Wrong move, the Supra was too big and didn't handle like the Miata, I missed my baby.

Well that is all fixed now. The Supra is up for sale and I just bought a '99 10AE and trailered it home from Boston tonight. I drove it down my street and I can't wait to have it registered

the insides dont like boost. also most of the e30's you find will need to be rebuilt as they have 150-200k miles on them. Most are money bucket of problems after problems after problem till you replace it and more or less have a old body with brand new parts. My old roomie had a e30 with 150,000 miles he sold it for 14,000. Least once every three months it sprung a problem that would end up costing 200-300 bucks. the e30 m3 is a beast on the track but it is just a spendy car to own. parts cost a ton and so do fixes and without building their motors they dont like to hold boost reliably.

+3 for the elise one of the most fun cars ive ever had a ride in

My next project will be a BP turbo festiva with an 8 point, suspension, severe weight reduction, and the stickiest tires I can get to pass inspection. Because 250 Hp and <1500 lbs sound like a fun car for under $3000.

I definately agree with loki, new z06. Have you guys got to ride in one yet. I thought that my camaro was real fast, then I went for a ride in the z06. They are about the same acceleration wise, but the damn z06 just would flat out stomp my camaro if there were any bends in the road. How about a miata with an ls1, with a nice cam. Really surprise people, in fact, I would **** my pants if one rolled up.

A lightly boosted E36 M3 would be a great car. Maybe around 375 whp. You wouldn't want to lose the great balance that car has. Flipside is doing one with a twin turbo S54. Sounds cool on paper but I think it will ruin the car.

That is what it all is about. For me personally, I want a new Z06, that is my dream car personally. Lots of people want ferraris and lambos and lotuses, the list just goes on and on.
