Don't get me wrong. I'd have loved to find a Lexus that met the criteria for gas mileage, price, and size. They just don't have what I need. If the IS had just a few more em pee jeez, I'd have driven one on saturday.

one. rear facing child seat is tight in a TL...

that's the crazy part, it was not the same thing every time.
It was constantly some new random weird part.

Like passenger seat decided it didn't want to stand "erect" anymore. guess the gears or whatever inside took a dump, so it was always reclined. then the "brake" light came on, and despite replacing the pads, fluid, and sensors it was still on. Ended up being the whole abs unit or something like that. Then the clutch went out, which was a PAIN to replace and basicaly the whole front end had to come off to do it (I am NOT exaggerating this part either).

I mean I'm sure you're doing your research and all, just sayin be extra careful and do extra research and know what you're getting into. She bought it for 14 in I think 07. Sold it for 7 last year.

It spreads the impact force across their whole back, neck & head, instead of those forces being directed into more concentrated areas by the straps, and reduces the likelihood of their head snapping in a wildly different direction relative to their spine. This is for frontal and offset impacts, which are statistically more likely than severe rear impacts. Rear facing seats would probably be safer for adults too if they didn't make it so difficult to drive the car.

I dunno how old his kids were when he got them, but Tom (BRGracer) has/had 2 TSXs and has 2 boys. Pretty sure they both did double duty as commuting and family vehicles.

Braineack 01-17-2012 12:58 PM

IIRC he sold one and now rocks an e30 325i and TSX and maybe something else. but has 3 kids now, one under a year old.

Why is it that everyone buys cars that are much more expensive than mine. All my friends and associates make less than me but my cars cost like 1/3-1/4th what theirs do.

Please explain why I should not buy a new M3 or Audi S5 or Chevy Cruze or M1 or oh oh oh that diesel bmw thing or cadillac cts-v?

Spotted a very nice condition white E30 325ix on my way in to work this morning. Wanted it badly.

Braineack 01-23-2012 01:48 PM

+1

My GF and I were discussing my car problem this weekend. She said that if I ever struck it rich or won the lotto, she knows I'd be the idiot with a bunch of wagons with Corvette engines, old Miatas, and old Civics. She would buy a purple Wrangler. She also said I'd be the guy with a $100k tow rig full of $1500 cars. This is love.

Your one lucky lady tray.

Just think of the maintenance, that should kill the boner.

Welcome to (future) Mini ownership. I picked my wife up an '08 'vert S for Xmas. And because I'm such a sucker for headaches and anguish, it's used and non CPO. I can't see anything under the hood that would be a daunting task to fix.

Reliability, shmeliability. It's mt.net. We all drive cars that have issues ALL THE TIME! Granted they aren't 35Gs, but he'll have full coverage under warranty for quite some time.

Braineack 01-23-2012 01:52 PM

I'll probably end up with a WRX hatch. I'm really drawn to wagons, but I really want something with real AWD and versatility that drives like a smaller car.

I'd pimp a regular S60R, but I dunno, something about having the wagon just makes it better...not that I've ever used my rear seat in my DD for anything...I think you sat in it once Hustler...probably the first person in 10 years. and my trunk is full of junk form my last office cause I was too lazy to unload it.

Not for sale, just spotted it in a random parking lot.

You took me out in an Altima. It was bauce.

Edit, oh yeah the backseat, inspecific to car type. I had a wagon for a while and always left the back-seat down. That's the way to roll, my GF's Cherokee is the same way.

gearhead_318 01-23-2012 01:58 PM

Too bad. They used to be all over craigslist a year or two ago, cheap too.

I've always thought I was more likely to be rear-ended than crash into stuff. I think this is more a general rule for most of America, not people who know how to drive a car with more pedals than feet.

I like when my coworkers will burst a radiator hose or something, then go buy a $50k BMW or something like that. "I NEED NEED NEED NEED A NEW CAR!!!"

I plan to only play Guns N Roses in my van with the old car stereo powering my white trashness. I'm trash, without the trailer.

Forester XT. If you want you I will let you drive my FXT which has STI suspension and spiffy sways. It actually handles quite decently and is fun in turns.

Braineack 01-23-2012 02:48 PM

Yeah I'd like to try one. But I'm not an SUV guy.
