I'm about to do a track day at 144k miles

tell me everything will be ok, and I'll be able to drive it home after 5 sessions. :x:

Everything will be ok and you will be able to drive home. Bed your pads before you go and tell us how it goes, should be awesome. If there is something that is gonna go wrong, hopefully it doesn't happen until you get back.

A lot could go wrong, you've got to be aware of that before you take it on the track. I'm of the opinion that if you can't afford to write the car off on the track you should consider something less risky.

Mechanically you'll probably be fine. I'd make sure your cooling system is in tip top shape. Brakes two. These will probably take the most punishment.

If you are really worried rent a U-Haul trailer and a truck or find out where the nearest U-Haul is to the track.

hustler 03-01-2007 12:14 AM

I am trailering the car. I have a daily driver, I just don't want to blow anything up, because it will be a major pain in the ass. I'm swapping in a 1.8 soon anyway.

Anyone else track a high mileage car?

I have an "auto" radiator in the car. Brakes and fluids are all new. The car is in perfect working order, it just has a ton of miles.

I'm going to be tracking my 145k car a lot this summer. We'll see what happens.

getsidewaysd1 03-01-2007 12:58 AM

I'll be tracking my car hopefully this summer as well. Luckly for me, I'm picking up a 1.8 motor out of a 95 on Friday that only has 31,000 miles on it for $750.

Savington 03-01-2007 01:57 AM

I'm building up my car for hardcore track use. 127k, nearly 128k on the motor right now and it will be turbo in a couple of months. 7000 miles on the TB/WP, so I'm not at all worried. I still need to do a compression/leakdown test.

Braineack 03-01-2007 08:21 AM

you'll be fine.

remember if the brakes go, pump them bitches, then try the e-brake.

watch your gauge

dont overdrive

From what I've seen around here, everyone tracks a high mileage car. At 100k, it's just barely broken in:gay:

BenR 03-01-2007 10:50 AM

Shit son that ain't high mileage.

TheBandit 03-01-2007 10:59 AM

You should be just fine. I ran my car out there several times in stock form without any issue. I wasn't quite as high mileage, but with still, I think you will be ok. Wish I could go with ya, unfortunately my car still isn't together...

dude I do track days with 194k (na). soon I'll be doing at least one 195k turbo :P

Al Hounos 03-01-2007 01:15 PM

You don't have a turbo, right? If so, you'll be just fine.

hustler 03-01-2007 03:24 PM

Now i just have to change the oil with the suicide jack in the parking lot of my hotel. hehe

hustler 03-01-2007 03:36 PM

should I be worried about a slightly slipply clutch? It doesn't slip in aggressive driving, but if I were to launch the car, it would probably slip. I plan on driving conservatively.

hustler 03-01-2007 03:39 PM

how badly am I going to slide all over the place with shitty kumho 711's?

Depends on your skill and setup.
