and I think your headlight duct makes a big difference... you know for sure? The engine swap, top mount and turbo size are all killing the available space, but still think I could get a box around my faux hks mushroom filter with some work.

I have got to do something about my IAT's. I have a filter behind my headlight lid with a scoop in it, and a heat shield on my header, and once I get into traffic it gets near 200 degrees and wont drop below 160 once moving again. I need to make a cold air box or buy the BEGI one.

Paul, Jet-Hot your Mani and DP, should help lower temps significantly, and it should actually help spool and power (not that you need anymore help).
Your IAT's already look damn good.
I recall seeing a cool air box on one of your pics somewhere on your site, why are you not using it on this car?

I read about this too, i plan on doing the same when I put my motor together just to eliminate the possibility if nothing else. Peace of mind!! sort of.

I want to know more about this. Are you gonna make a write up on this, or should I just go sign up over at lightweightmiata.net or what's it called.
I want to get rid of as much of the emissions crap as possible, but don't even know where to start.

I'm going to be tracing a BEGi cold box this weekend and replicating it. I'm also going to swiss-cheese the shelf below the filter...this should allow airflow through the duct and out the wheel well, since it will be boxed in. But at the moment,. my AITs are better without that shield.
