I did it, Pulled the trigger on a New SV1000
$6900 out the door, everything included. I think I got a good deal. Only catch, it's a left-over '06 with zero miles and a full warranty.
Seems that they are discontinuing the SV1000 and 2007 is the last year for it, who knows what Suzuki is planning!

I wanted a narrow V-4 or V-twin bike... the New Interceptor is an overweight 500 Lb underpowered (800 cc) pig and the SV 1000 weighs about 410 Lbs and has another 30 HP over the Interceptor. Hopefully it's as good as it's loyal fan base raves about. I am having the bike shipped out here, I had to search the net for the deal I got.

Is it the "S" or the unfaired? There's something to be said about a traditional hooligan bike. It was a sad day when I sold my Aprilia Falco and I'll never go back to a clip-on bike.
Here in a few years, it'll be hard not to go back to a big twin as well I loved the TL1000s in a straight line when they made them... but that rear shock liked to kill you. The SV1000 is a machine and a half... it'll be tough to justify a Tuono or a SpeedTriple over one. I'll probably puss out and end up with a FZ1000 or a Futura... maybe an FJ1000 if I really lose my ballz.

I looked into the SV650 awhile back and they are great bikes. Never really looked at the SV1000 cause 1L still scare me. I ended up with an R6 and rode it daily even in the winter(GA so no snow) until it was stolen

I love my Duc. The only bad things about it are maintenance costs (which they supposedly improved on for '07+ models) and I'd probably go bigger than 620 if I could afford the insurance (I just turned 20, and the Monster 620 is only $25/month for full coverage).
I've had two cbr 600's, and definitely prefer the torque of a twin and it's hard to beat the sound too. I looked at SV650's a little, but I've wanted a Ducati since I was like 12, and couldn't resist the allure of an Italian bike for nearly the same price.

The SV1000 is not terribly fast for a 1 liter bike, it's an 11.20/120 MPH 1/4 mile bike. Most 600's and 750's will show it taillights once the RPMs climb. It's as one person said, the swiss army knife of bikes... it does alot very well. Specializes in little though, but what you want in a street bike.
