I'm in so much trouble (ws again)
My wife wanted to wait until out bathroom was finished being renovated to bring her cat from her parents house. So the bathroom is 90% done and she brought it up on saturday(yesterday). Today she was out all day with her mom doing a volunteer bowling thing for kids and i was outside working on the yard and stuff.
For the life of me i can't find the damn cat, i'm really thinking it somehow got out:vash: |
Check in random cabinets. I have seen some cats sneak into some pretty stupid areas.
Did you like the cat?
open can of cat food?
found the cat!
only problem is it's in the heating vent. we apparently forgot to put the cover back on in a bedroom we recently painted and stuck a dresser in front of it. when you reach for it it backs up and goes in deeper. now we've got tuna on plate in front of the vent |
is it in there face first or facing out? Just leave it alone..it'll come out.
1.) Go rent Caddyshack
2.) ??? 3.) Profit |
it's facing out.
Just wait, it'll come out eventually.
I had a cat (kittenish) that would not stay out of the ENORMOUS tree in our back yard. One time it just climbed too high for a mere mortal to climb up high enough to retrieve her. When she got hungry (52hrs later) she figured out how to get down. Cats are very smart. |
fuck me it's gone deeper, we took all the vent covers off
cats are awesome. it'll come out, use a laser pointer, theyll stop anything to kill the red dot.
yeah it's loves laser pointers, but i don't have one.....maybe i'll run out and grab one
The best thing you can do is wait it out til it calms down and comes out on its own. It feels somewhat safe where it is and the more you try calling it or urging it out the more safe its going to feel inside the vent realizing that you cant get to it.
Eventually when it relaxes and isn't so stressed out it'll come out and you'll find it out in the open. Grab it, lock it in a room without a vent while you cover them all up! |
They do like to try to fit in dumb places for some reason. Mine got stuck face down in a triangle shaped nook between the corner of two kitchen walls and the back of the kitchen cabinet. For two weeks I saw him get half way down in there investigating this hole until one day I heard scratching and meowing coming from the kitchen. I found him flailing, hind legs and a tail sticking out. The hole was only big enough to fit in headfirst, he hadn't thought about how to get out of it. GF had to climb up on top of the cabinets and pull him out by his legs. They do learn though. He hasn't been up there since.
Leave it alone, don't scare it and hopefully it won't be dumb enough to go deeper. If it's more your wife's cat she might do better at coaxing it out. |
If it's a male cat, play this as loud as you can near the closest vent.
The cats my parents have would disappear into vents, the ceiling, etc. when they were finishing their house. Wouldn't see 'em for a couple days sometimes. It'll eventually come out on its own. When it does, just go cover the vents and forget chasing the cat until the vents are sealed up. Cats rock.
My girlfriend left and one of the damn cats got sick that day, threw up and stopped eating for two days. Granted, the plump 21-pounder could use the diet, but I really didn't need to deal with a sick cat.
seal up all the other vents and pump in high pressure air...
Turbo'd kitteh is turbo'd. :D
well the local cvs didn't have any laser pointers. it's a she, and she's disappeared in there somewhere. it looks like all we can do is wait.
Turn the heat on and burn it out. Or if you can get to the vent rip out the ducting like a mad man and kill the cat when your done.
[john] holmes, that's not work safe.
And totally random and gay.
:vash:the cat is now hiding behind my fucking couch. I got really annoyed that my wife was laying by the vent crying and waking me up and telling me the cat was trying to get out the hole it went in but won't fit for an hour and half so i got out of bed and busted a big hole in my basement ceiling. during all the noise and banging the cat got scared enough to fit though the fucking hole it went in and then run behind my couch.:vash:
umm just grab the cat and put it in a blender problem solved.
stop making the cat lick penut-butter off your dinger and he won't hide like that.
i would post a picture of my cat here, but i dont have any new ones.
oh what the hell... http://boostedmiata.com/cats/110607_18471.jpg |
Our cats make that one look anorexic. Maybe I should fatten them more, so that they can't get stuck in heating ducts. And if they do, they'll just not eat for a couple days and be able to come out. My plan has no flaws.

Timely thread. I was a half hour late to work this morning. Couldn't find one of the cats (strictly indoor) before I left. Looked every damn where. All it's favorite hiding spots.
Turned out the lining under our guest room matress has a hole torn in it. She had crawled up inside the box spring. Wouldn't have known but I was looking under the bed with a flashlight and her head popped out. Looks at me and gives this innocent little mew like she didn't know I'd spent the last 40 minutes looking and calling for her. Gaaah. |
Can we delete hustlers post? It is weak, stupid, and ruins my lunchtime fix for miata turbo at school.

Pwn3d by kitteh!!!1!one The only situation that warrants busting a hole in a ceiling is if the cat actually dies up there and you're trying to get rid of the smell. |

number one rule of cat ownership: steer clear of the females. Males are much less neurotic.
i feel the opposite. boys are stinkie.
at least you got a free vent dusting out of it. :D
we have one boy and one girl. the girl is weird but the boy cat is up in your face.
Cats:
-get stuck in vents -wake you up too fucking early -your wife is way too attached to it Dogs: -play fetch with you -don't get stuck in vents -stay fucking quiet until you get up in the morning -are better than cats |
Dogs rule, cats drool!
poop on your lawn vs. in a box.
get a small dog and send it in after it
a cat cleans itself, a dog smells like shit
our male cat plays fetch with his toy mouse. The female just lays around and does nothing all day.
I don't like either, and I have two dogs..
Our newest, a Dachshund-Chihuahua mix, gets so excited when I come near that she pees on whatever surface she's on, which is usually my bed or a couch. Fun. I love dog ownership.. not. |

Any cat I've ever had only played for that long when it was a kitten and was definitely not smart enough to play fetch.
