Interesting B-List Celebrity Sighting

So last weekend I took the wifey to our favorite restaurant. I noticed the chef came out and was talking to the people next to us. I found it curious, then she went to another table. I was thinking she looked crazy familiar, I swear she's the crazy black chick from Hell's Kitchen. I kept saying that over and over and my wife thought I was dumb.

So my wife calls me this morning and was said Elliot in the Morning was actually talking about a chef from that local restaurant chain being on the show. So just now I looked it up and low and behold...

I know right, but it's not even close to the time I sat at the table next to Robert Duvall at the same restaurant. Freakin Tom Hagen!

gospeed81 10-14-2009 06:30 PM

I had to look the SHOW up...

I don't watch TV though...so I'm uncultured swine.

Funny you should say that. I shut my cable off almost a year now (times were tough), and I have not watched a minute of tv at my house since. It is amazing how much I have gotten done. I want to go 12 months before I turn it back on. I do spend an awful lot of time on miataturbo though.:giggle:

18psi 10-14-2009 06:43 PM

I love watching that show.

At first the wife was watching it and made me watch it with her. Then I actually got into it. Lots of little shit we pick up to help in the kitchen too.

What's Hell's Kitchen?

kotomile 10-14-2009 07:14 PM

Lol, I met so many celebs when the super bowl came to Jax a few years back. My sister and I worked at Maxim's shindig, which happened to be at the Garden Club of Jax, and my mother is on the board. Wee-man is a lot bigger looking in person than he is on TV, dude's jacked.

A neighborhood on the west side of Manhattan, last I checked.

Walter Cronkite and Bill Kurtis took my table at a little jazz club in downtown Chicago a few years ago. (Bill asked nicely.)

We still have ours hooked up...but I stopped watching anything besides sporting events and movies about 5 years ago. I had originally planned on a year...but never got back into. My free time is very productive to say the least.

My wife watches her telenovelas (spanish channels) and some of the cooking shows...but I hadn't seen Hell's Kitchen. At the least those shows give her ideas for when she's where she should be.

I sometimes caught about 3-5min at a time of Jon & Kate with her when that show was big. I hope that's all the reality TV I ever get in my life.

I think many of us would be amazed when we realize how much time our TVs take away from us. More so that this is time we are not working or studying, and should be spending being productive around the house or passing time with our families.

Some folks are just as productive while still allotting time for their shows...I applaud them, but I'm not one of them. I simply don't have enough time or discipline...and TV is too damn addictive and easy. I was better off just cutting it out.

"B-list" and "celebrity" are used pretty loosely here.

Sorta like the time I got Melrose Larry Green's autograph in my Howard Stern "Private Parts" book. (FWIW, It is also signed by Howard. I probably decreased it's value with the other autograph).

Huh? Who? ;)

I was on a flight with Richard Dreyfuss and his family once, and when I talked to him, he denied his identity for most of the flight.

gospeed; is your wife latina?

webby459 10-15-2009 09:45 AM

We went to the USGP at Indy twice. Wife and I dined at 14 West (a great downtown place if you're in Indy), Peter Windsor from Speed, and Bobby and Graham Rahal were at the table next to us. A good celeb sighting for race fans.

you didn't miss anything...maybe herpes.

Newbsauce 10-15-2009 10:22 AM

I wouldn't recognize a celebrity if they were sitting right next to me. Except DMX, and that's because he would probably impersonate a federal agent, while barking and shooting heroin.

She's easy to spot because she looks like an owl.

Sweetwater Tavern, right? There's one just down the road from us and we go there every couple of months. Their brews are pretty good. It was busy in there before she got on that show, but now there's like 2 hour wait times for walk-ins on a Wednesday night. Crazy.

dpexp 10-15-2009 06:06 PM

She made that show almost unwatchable with her screaming crap, I bet she doesn't wash her hands.

I never knew you were an expert in Latin American slang!

Maybe you're confusing your terms. Here are some FYI: "ripio", "uevo", "macana", "picha"

call ahead is god. and if you show up late they tend to give you free stuff because your wait 'took too long'

miataspeed2005 10-16-2009 11:19 AM

Fuck celebrities! I could be next to any celeb and I wouldn't even care unless it was a Cowboys player, hell I might pull off a hustler and suck his dick for a pic and autograph.

Braineack 10-16-2009 11:33 AM

celebs are above human, they are my deities.

dpexp 10-16-2009 12:33 PM

My fav was the Waffle house cook from 2 seasons ago who kicked everyones ass and was the runner up, Ramsey was so impressed with her he sent her to culinary school on his dime. She was also the only one who could cook an egg correctly.

Doppelgänger 10-16-2009 02:57 PM

So wait... i've heard people talk about this "lady gaga" but i've never seen or heard of her. You're seriously going to tell me that guys drool over that?? My God this is a sad day.....

Maybe the guys posting in the 'Jailbait' thread...

TrickerZ 10-16-2009 04:10 PM

I've driven some celebrities cars doing valet. No big deal to me. Hulk Hogan is a huge dude in person, though. Their cars weren't even that great. Shaq drove a Merc V12 biturbo, Hulk had a suburban all ghetto-ed out and his daughter just got a BMW 645 (still had dealer plate). I also parked some other basketball guy's car. Another crappy Merc. Had no idea who he was since I'm not a basketball fan. I would have rather known who rolled up in the Rolls Royce Phantom.

They're just people doing their job. It's just everyone knows who they are. For some reason they get special treatment even though most of them are horrible tippers. Shaq was the best with $20. From the limo drivers, I've heard Bill Gates is the worst. Go figure, right?
