While my wife was outside shoveling snow I decided to look up RX7's on wikipedia, which lead ultimately to me finding this, supposedly used on some VW & Benz:

seat belt pretensioner

Slick!

Rotor diameters in IC engines range from 1mm to about 1m in dia. Crazy!

I think the apex seals in my turbo car's seatbelt tensioner failed.

That's a really cool find.
