"Gaucho Leather" is awesome. I like things I can rub down with mink oil. The uppers are super supportive and that's exactly what I need after my torn ligament shitshow earlier this year. They also immediately give my wardrobe like +5 to manliness. ;)

The soles are VERY stiff and its going to take some time to break in. They absolutely beat the shit out of my feet for the last couple of days. Of course, my feet are all soft and pampered with the desk job so part of that is going to be me adapting to wearing boots again as well. I really like the "Stars and Bars" tread pattern and sole, makes them feel like real boots. I was really dubious of some of the other tread patterns, or more accurately, the lack thereof. I've been walking on wet concrete and steel the last couple days and nary a slip.

hi_im_sean: Interestingly enough, the 83402 was also on my list but they didn't have them in my size. I'll be looking at those again when its dedicated hiking boot time.

So much win. 3rd day on them, and they are awesome. THE most comfortable boot I have worn hands down. Soles are noticeably stiffer than the oxford I had, but not as stiff as the "true boot style" you have there. I like

If you want your uppers to remain supportive you shouldn't be putting mink oil on them as it will greatly soften the leather. There are many other products that provide waterproofing without unduly softening the leather. Obenauf's Heavy Duty Leather Protector is very highly regarded and has worked well for me. It's a mixture of beeswax, propolis, and tree resins.

This stuff has great waterproofing properties, other than that its all ive ever used so i cant compare. It does soften the leather a little, but dont they all?

They replaced my caterpillar motorcycle boots after I utterly destroyed them from two years of hard use.

They were factory seconds for some reason. The color was probably off or something, because there is nothing physically wrong with them.

I use a combination of mink oil (liquid form) mixed with neatsfoot oil.
Yes, both of these oils soften leather over time, especially neatsfoot oil.
Mink oil waterproofs, while neatsfoot does not.
I use it because I want my boots to darken a bit. When they are at the shade I want, I will switch to nikwax to waterproof without softening the leather anymore.

Im taking a welding degree at HGTC in SC. I needed a new pair of boots since the pair I had are horribly painful to wear for any amount of time. I went with these .

That's an interesting design. How is the arch support?
I wear wolverine inserts in most of my boots.

Love the romeos I got. Slip on boots for the win.

They are pretty flat on the inside. I had fairly flat feet so its not a huge problem for me. I may look into the wolverine inserts.

Except black soles, black laces, and a dark orange accent color. I drive plenty of little cars for a living now, and couldn't fit in half of them with a bigger boot. Best part is these are safety toed, so I can use my shoe as a wheel chock while torqueing wheel studs.

I'm in the commercial construction industry (management) so I spend a ton of time in work boots. For the better part of a decade I swore by redwings. I was convinced by many of the carpenters on my crew to switch to Georgia boots and made the switch about a year ago.

I'm a huge fan of the Georgia boots and will not be going back to Red Wings. I wear the barracuda 6" wedge. I much prefer wedge soles due to trip hazard. My feet used to get sore with the wings after a 10 hour day of standing on red iron or concrete... not so with the georgia's.
