I'm so excited!! Forgot this was coming in the mail, best surprise ever when i got home from work. I cant wait to get started on designing and making my own stuff! I got the Makerbot Replicator 2 3d Desktop Printer.
Gonna start tinkering and seeing what it's all about. I feel like I'm living in the future. I'll update this thread with my first couple of prints. Going to start learning the software and stuff, my college offers a class on it that I'm thinking about taking. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1400095320 Specs: PRINTING PRINT TECHNOLOGY: FUSED DEPOSITION MODELING BUILD VOLUME: 28.5 L X 15.3 W X 15.5 H CM [11.2 X 6.0 X 6.1 IN] LAYER RESOLUTION: 100 MICRONS [0.0039 IN] POSITIONING PRECISION: XY: 11 MICRONS [0.0004 IN] Z: 2.5 MICRONS [0.0001 IN] FILAMENT DIAMETER: 1.75 MM [0.069 IN] NOZZLE DIAMETER: 0.4 MM [0.015 IN] MECHANICAL CHASSIS: POWDER COATED STEEL BODY: PVC PANELS BUILD PLATFORM: ACRYLIC XYZ BEARINGS WEAR-RESISTANT, OIL-INFUSED BRONZE STEPPER MOTORS 1.8° STEP ANGLE WITH 1/16 MICRO-STEPPING ELECTRICAL STORAGE TEMPERATURE: 0°–32° C [32°–90° F] OPERATING TEMPERATURE: 15°–32° C [60°–90° F] AC INPUT: 100–240 V, ~2 AMPS, 50–60 HZ POWER REQUIREMENTS: 24 V DC @ 6.25 AMPS DIMENSIONS PRODUCT DIMENSIONS: WITHOUT SPOOL 49 L X 32 W X 38 H CM [19.1 X 12.8 X 14.7 IN] WITH SPOOL 49 L X 42 W X 38 H CM [19.1 X 16.5 X 14.7 IN] PRODUCT WEIGHT: 11.5 KG [25.4 LBS] |
A VHS? You have a VHS in your house?
|
Is it like a welder where the first thing you weld is a cart for it? 3D print a stand for your 3D printer.

So, what do you need to use in order to make stuff with this?
What program is compatable? |
Oo! Makerbot! You better keep this thread updated ;)
|
So when does the 3d scan of your penis get done, and then you print out 3d penises to put in boxes when you send stuff to members on here?

Eventually if I learn enough I want to design some interior car trim pieces etc... I have some 3d design experience playing around in Blender. I don't know if that will translate. This essentially just a expensive toy I wanted to get to see what it's all about. |

What program is compatable? This model specifically uses makerbot's makerware software. I'm not sure if I can use 3rd part 3d graphic programs but I'm sure I can. I haven't gotten that far down the rabbit hole yet. |
He could print replacement parts for that VHS...
Ok, maybe I am little jealous here. |

I kid you not I kept refreshing this page and was quite surprised it took this many posts to get this comment. Was going to post the same myself, but got distracted with Rev's vhs comment |
Mazduh if you want to use the 3d printer to help out people I would highly suggest checking out E-nabling The Future | A network of passionate volunteers using 3D printing to give the World a "Helping Hand." which is a site for 3d printing prosthetic hands for people in need. I am a member and when I get some more free time I am planning on hopefully printing out some hands for some kids in need.

Based on the surface finish I've seen on most ABS and PLA parts, I don't think you'll be selling many of them wieners.

Ok, maybe I am little jealous here. VHS kicks ass. I am not going out and buying Heat, Grosse Pointe Blank, Fight Club, The 5th Element, Office Space, The Devils Advocate, etc on crappy fragile DVDs/other failboat disk formats. Pics incoming. I once bought a VHS at a Goodwill store and it had a porno in it. |
that was their "buy 1 get 1 free" bonus
in for pics *edit: I hope you washed it with bleach btw |
My penis just shot off my body like a rocket.
So jelly. They sure do look a lot nicer now that theyre not made of wood. |
